I was on a business trip and lived at the Vacaville ESA from January until May 1st. It was noisy and full of issues, but I stayed because my child (who has autism) wanted to finish the school year there. The manager Tina was extremely rude and did not help me when I asked repeatedly to receive my taxes back on my months long stay. Finally, one of the front desk workers (Amor) said just come down every Saturday and we’ll just extend your reservation with her, which worked for several weeks. Suddenly, on May 1st, we were awakened by banging on the door and my son said to come down to complete our reservation now. At 12, I went down to pay and was told our room was booked. I asked how the room could be booked since I was still living there and the front desk staff just said I needed to leave because they can rent my room for $350 a night because of something happening in Napa. I am 51 disabled woman who is partially blind, paralyzed and disabled with a son with autism. We had just shopped for the month of June the night previous and had several big items from (Costco/Sam’s) and I told Tina that it was going to take two trips as soon as I could find a new place to stay. She preceded to start screaming at me at said, “I’ve had a stroke, too! That’s not a big deal!” She then preceded to call every 15 minutes screaming at us to hurry. She even said that “I’m coming down there!” She never spoke to me in person. She never apologized. However, her staff were crying and shaking after she arrived and was screaming at them as well. I finally made a reservation at another hotel 40 minutes away. My autistic son’s school bus is too far to take him to school from here. Just when I was settled in my new ESA and had calmed down my autistic son for the next day, I received a call from a wonderful woman - the manager at the Fairfield location. She explained to me that ESA increased the prices of ALL locations close to Napa because of some event happening there. She said she had the same thing happen to one of her long term guests, too, but she herself actually made reservations at a new location so that they could move. She also said Tina, the Manager placed me into the ESA’s DO NOT RENT file and the current ESA will current ESA will kick out as soon as they discover us in the DO NO RENT ESA wide file. If they had told me earlier like Fairfield had or helped me find another location like Fairfield had, my exit would have been faster, but there was only so much for me to do in my situation. However, denying us housing based on disability discrimination is ridiculous. I even told the manager if she wants to ban me from her location, I understand, but to ban me from every ESA is ridiculous and ableist. I have asked Tina to call me. I left word at the hotel, but as usual, she is never there and refuses to return phone calls.
