Hunters Lodge Hotel

We reserved a table for dinner with friends the night before our wedding and were blown away by the food! Homemade with love. We highly recommend the burgers and the Ragu. Service was brilliant, couldn’t fault her. We didn’t stay at the hotel but if we would judge the hospitality on the service and food we received in the restaurant, we’d definitely be back. Thank you!

We have just spent a very pleasant day and night in this very confortable hotel situated at Gretna. The room we occupied was very spacious and calm. Dinner was fine and substantial just like the breakfast we had in the morning. We highly recommend this hotel. Michel and Marie Moulin Lyon France

Stayed here for one night en route from Fort William to Cambridge. It is a really good place for a stop-over. Great location. Plenty of car parking. Lovely clean rooms throughout. Tasty food. Amazing value. And walking distance to a very good shopping village. Linda welcomed us on arrival and was so cheerful, friendly and helpful. She served us at dinner with great recommendations and also at breakfast. We had Room 1 which was adequate for our brief stay but was on the small side with a very compact shower room. Toiletries were really nice and towels soft and plentiful. Bed was very comfy. Had a coffee machine and hairdryer and use of an iron if needed. Dinner was good-in particular, the beef ragu pasta and garlic bread was delicious and the Malbec wine good quality. Breakfast was cereals, juice and/or yogurt followed by a full Scottish with haggis and plenty of tea/coffee and toast. Nicely presented and very tasty. Easy checkout. All-in-all a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Recommend to anyone needing a good place to stay to break a long journey.

Pleasent stay Rooms are clean and comfortable. Bathroom a bit tired but adequate. Dinner was fine with great burger and pork dish Good breakfast . It's a great location, Just off m74 for a stop overnight on way to Scotland The retail outlet is worth a visit down the road

Whilst this hotel doesn't share the same outlook as some of the larger hotels in Gretna it offers great food, friendly service and delivers great value (by the way the Blacksmith's shop is within walking distance albeit it's not just around the corner). This former officers' mess provides clean accommodation, in large rooms, both within the main building and in the extension to the rear. The hostess is very friendly, with a great sense of humour, and is more than happy to go the extra mile. Her husband is the chef and produces some really good food. Whilst the starters were great, the main course was even better. (Can I recommend that you try the 'Hunters Ultimate' homemade burger - which includes haggis). They also offer some really decent wines. T(ry the Los Picos Distantes Malbec.) We chose the dinner, bed and breakfast deal and believe that it's great value for money.

Stopped in this town on our way to Glasgow The reception was very friendly and the room was big and very clean The bed was super comfortable We had a drink in bar lounge area but only one as we was up early to carry on our journey I would definitely stay here again especially for exploring the area

Charming old hotel, we stayed in an annexe room at the back, very clean and comfortable, bath and shower. Dinner was very tasty, after dinner drinks in a very nice lounge bar, where we met fellow travellers who also enjoyed the comforts. A traditional breakfast was serve cooked fresh at our chosen time. Host was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Would definitely recommend.

Stopped in late evening without a reservation, and the host could not have been more welcoming. Kids burgers were proper high quality beef pattys, lovely coleslaw. I had veg curry with rice, very tasty with perfectly firm veg. Husband had the slow cooked beef ragu pasta, which was really good. Overall a nutritious, tasty well cooked meal, at a good price too - thank you!
