We recently got married in Gretna, we and all our wedding party stayed here for 2 nights. We could not fault a single thing, from booking in, the bedrooms, function room, food, bar, all staff went over and above to make us all very welcome. The cleanliness and friendliness were second to none. It has a 'family' feeling and nothing is too much trouble. All our guests have said what an amazing time they had and that is all down to the Team at the Solway. We hadn't really made arrangements for the evening following our Wedding, as we were holding our main 'Evening Reception Party' when we got home to Cheshire, but after the meal, Fiona sorted out a speaker for us, had the tables moved to make more room, we played our own music and danced the night away until the early hours. We arrived on Friday to get married on Saturday, with 25 of us in total. The whole process has been incredibly easy and stress free. Staff have been amazing throughout the whole process from us booking last year to us leaving this morning. Breakfast was brill, as was the food in the restaurant/bar. We opted for salmon and beef for the wedding breakfast and everyone said how beautiful everything was. The bridal suite was lovely and spacious and spotlessly clean. It also had everything we needed including an iron and ironing board. The grounds are beautiful and we were lucky with the weather, literally cannot wait to get my wedding pictures back. Everyone has throughly enjoyed the weekend and stated what good value the rooms were. So a big thank you to everyone at the Mill, you really have given us the most magical weekend! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a stress free day.

Yet another fabulous stay here however on this occasion 9 adults and 7 children stayed two nights. This Inn is very convenient for the motorway so it made the ideal place for our family, both sides of the border, to meet here. The rooms were very comfortable the wee extras in the bathroom, including body lotion, are always lovely to use. The available fridge in the room allows fresh milk to be kept and used for tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The jar of coffee tastes so much better than those familiar (bitter in my opinion) sachets of coffee and the tea cakes make a tasty change from the 'usual' biscuits available in some hotels. Breakfast was delicious... choices of cereal, fruit juice and fruit and yogurt as well as a cooked breakfast. I don't know how Alison manages to get so many different meals out together particularly when one wants fried eggs, another scrambled and yet others want bacon well cooked. Alison was not fazed by any of this. There are highchairs too if needed. The sofas around the fire made a great area for us all to sit and natter and play boardgames/cards. There are plenty of games available to keep anyone occupied. We found Alison her usual chatty and helpful host putting everyone at ease and making us all feel welcome. We will not hesitate to stay here again.

Aus dem Außenbereich (Schaffleisch usw.) fragten wir uns, was es wäre, aber wir waren angenehmen überrascht. Wir hatten ein Standardzimmer reserviert, das sauber und gemütlich war mit allen Bieten, Kettle, Tee/Kaffee, Haartrockner. Das Hotel ist sehr freundlich und sehr freundlich, nichts war zu viel Problem. Frühstück könnte Getreide mit Milch oder Joghurt, kocht Frühstück, Toast oder Croissant, große Auswahl und alles frisch und frisch gekocht. Wir hatten das kochierte Frühstück - WOW - dauerte uns den ganzen Tag. Die kleine Stadt Annan, alles, was ich sagen kann, ist, wenn Sie nicht besuchen, Sie werden auf einem Treat verpassen. PS die Schaffling ist für alle Renovierungen, die das Eigentum verbessern. Wir würden gerne einen Tag zurückkehren.

On arrival the Hotel reception looks pleasant,really good and modern. However our Room 107 was so small, and very dated. Rooms definitely need upgrading, especially having accessible rooms for disabled and less mobile guests. Mixer taps in bathroom would definitely be a plus. Staff are friendly and helpful. Was ok for a night's stopover.

Der Pool ist noch nicht im Hotel geöffnet. Schmelz wie getan wurde man im Badezimmer vor unserem Aufenthalt rauchen.

I absolutely LOVED my stay at Cartref! I can't recommend it enough- it's a short walk from the train station and you can easily walk into the town centre. I was in Carlisle for a gig at The Old Fire Station, and found the guest house to be in a great location as it didn't take me too long to walk through town to the venue. Melanie (the owner of Cartref) is really friendly and welcoming; it is clear she pays great attention to detail with the rooms and needs of her guests. My room was beautiful; spotlessly clean, bright, and airy with a SUPER comfy bed and lovely quality bedding, which was brilliantly white. The en-suite bathroom was well equipped, incredibly clean, with a GREAT shower, plenty of towels, a lovely soft robe, slippers and excellent quality local toiletries. You get plenty of teabags, coffee and hot chocolate in the room by the kettle; there's even a mini fridge you can use, which had bottles of water and fresh milk for a cuppa on arrival. The breakfast menu has plenty of choice; it was really tasty, freshly prepared and served in the very pretty dining room. The reception area is pretty and nicely presented with plenty of useful info- there is also a really handy book in the bedroom containing all the information you need for your stay with great recommendations for things to do/places to eat in the local area. I highly recommend Cartref and will definitely be booking to stay there again next time I visit Carlisle.
