My Stay at Fairfield by Marriott Hokkaido Naganuma – A Pleasant Surprise in Hokkaido
The Fairfield by Marriott Hokkaido Naganuma was one of the most unexpectedly comfortable stops during my recent self-drive trip around Hokkaido. Located in the peaceful town of Naganuma, it’s about a 30-minute drive from New Chitose Airport and roughly one hour from central Sapporo. While it’s far from the bustling city center, that distance is exactly what gives the place its rare sense of tranquility.
When I arrived at the parking lot in the middle of winter, my car was covered in snow. Before I could even grab a shovel, a staff member came over with a friendly smile and quickly cleared the snow off the vehicle for me. The service was warm, efficient, and genuinely thoughtful—it made the whole check-in experience feel smooth and welcoming right from the start.
The room impressed me immediately with its generous size. Compared to many typical Japanese business hotels, the space here feels noticeably roomy. I could easily open my large suitcase fully and organize everything without everything feeling cramped. The bed was comfortable, and the large windows offered an open view of the surrounding fields (a pure white snowscape in winter), which made the stay very relaxing.
Cleanliness is another standout feature. The entire hotel was impeccably maintained—floors, bathroom, bedding, everything spotless. There wasn’t the slightest odd smell in the air, and I slept very soundly every night.
The surroundings are extremely quiet. At night you hear almost no traffic or human sounds—just the soft whisper of wind. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking to escape city noise. The downside is that there are no convenience stores within walking distance, so if you don’t have a car it can be inconvenient. I recommend stocking up on snacks and drinks at a roadside station (Michi-no-Eki) or supermarket before checking in.
Scenery-wise, the hotel is surrounded by wide Hokkaido plains. In winter it’s an endless blanket of snow; in summer I imagine it turns into lush green fields—either way, it’s incredibly photogenic and healing for the eyes. Although it takes about an hour to drive to central Sapporo, having a car turns this “remoteness” into an advantage: you can easily reach nearby hot springs, farms, or head further north to other attractions.
In summary, this hotel is an excellent choice for self-drive travelers looking for a comfortable overnight stop or anyone who wants a quiet, restful base. Great value for money, spotlessly clean, friendly and attentive staff, plus that peaceful away-from-it-all atmosphere—I’d happily return on my next Hokkaido trip.

I recently stayed at Hotel Mystays Sapporo Susukino and overall had a comfortable and convenient experience that suited my travel style perfectly. The hotel is located in the heart of Susukino, Sapporo’s most vibrant entertainment and dining district, which makes it an excellent base for exploring the city. It is about a five to seven minute walk from Susukino Subway Station, giving easy access to other parts of Sapporo, including Odori Park and Sapporo Station. The surrounding area is filled with restaurants, ramen shops, convenience stores, cafes, and nightlife spots, so finding something to eat at any hour is never a problem. Despite being in a lively neighborhood, the hotel itself feels calm and secure once inside.
The room was compact, as expected for a Japanese city hotel, but it was thoughtfully designed to maximize space. I stayed in a standard room, which had a comfortable bed, a small desk, a flat-screen television, a refrigerator, an electric kettle, and air conditioning. There was enough space to open a medium-sized suitcase, although travelers with very large luggage might find it slightly tight. The bathroom was clean and functional, with a combined bathtub and shower unit, along with basic toiletries provided. Water pressure was good, and hot water was consistent, which was especially appreciated during the colder Hokkaido weather.
Cleanliness throughout the hotel was satisfactory. Housekeeping maintained the room well, and the common areas such as the lobby and hallways were tidy. The staff members were polite and professional, and while not all were fluent in English, communication was smooth and efficient. Check-in and check-out processes were straightforward and quick.
One highlight of the stay was the breakfast buffet, which featured a mix of Japanese and Western options. There were rice dishes, miso soup, grilled fish, salads, bread, eggs, and several local Hokkaido ingredients. It was a convenient way to start the day, especially before heading out for sightseeing.
The hotel also offers practical amenities such as free Wi-Fi, coin-operated laundry machines, vending machines, and luggage storage services. These facilities make it especially suitable for mid-length stays or travelers moving between cities.
Overall, Hotel Mystays Sapporo Susukino delivers solid value for money. While it is not a luxury property, it provides comfort, cleanliness, and a prime location at a reasonable price. I would recommend it to solo travelers, couples, or friends looking for an affordable and well-located hotel in Sapporo.

NEOZIADie Einrichtungen ähneln denen anderer japanischer Hotels.

Tiffany ChioThis hotel use the self check in system. However they don't remind guest about the check out time so I am never informed about the check out time. Finally the last day, the receptionist just came to my door at 10:00 and told me I need to pay. I was shocked and asked politely about not charging extra money and got out the room at 10:20. They finally still needed to charge me 2000 Yan. I requested to have the price list and all policies about the check in and check out.
THE MAN RECEPTIONIST CAME INTO MY ROOM AND SHOWED ME THE BOOKLET. ONLY ME AND HIM IN THE ROOM, THEN HE SHOUTED AT ME IN JAPANESE RUDELY !!!!
I have the right to understand all the pricing and information although I have time exceed, I can pay however I don't deserve the bad attitude of their hotel service. It is the WORST STAY EVER in my life.
The time was 31st Dec 10:30 a.m. when he shouted at me. SHAME ON HIM AND THE HOTEL.

GastnutzerAusgezeichnete Lage.

GastnutzerA very comfortable stay. I was in a Single Rm on d 13th flr. Super quiet at the end of the hallway. Window facing another building wall, no view. Comfortable bed and PJ set. No daily housekeeping provided but they'd leave a bag of towel, new PJ set and stuffs hanging on your door in the morning. Early check-in would cost 1000¥ per hour till the official 3【pm check-in time. I opt to leave my luggage in their storage rm, after I checked in around 4:30p, my bags already in my rm. Professional and polite staffs in general. I took the airport bus, but on my day of arrival, bus companies not dropping off passengers infront of the hotel due to severe snowstorm 2 days prior. And they also not picking up infront of d hotel on the wkend and final day of d Sapporo Winter Festival. Nearest airport bus stop would be Odori Park or Grand Sapporo Hotel. It's about less than 10mins walk. If it's during winter with snow on d ground, the Grand Sapporo Hotel bus stop would actually be a better route. I took the Odori Park route and was a bit tedious. Hotel is attentive to amenities details eg: charging cables of different ports ( type-C, Apple, usb-A etc...) available in the rm; utensils available at each floor's elevator lobby, free tea/coffee and extra toiletries at Lobby. Coin laundry(cash only) is 300¥ for each load of washing ( laundry detergent will automatically add in) and 100¥ for 30mins dry. Coin exchange avail at Check-in desk. Great location to Odori Park just across the street and plenty of choices for food + shopping. Rm facing the park during Winter Festival might be noisy due to stage performances and safety announcements or whatnot from the megaphone. Loves the onsen; Female and male has each of their own sections. Closed for cleaning 10a-2p daily, but daily operation is 2p-2a. Delicious mini fruit popsicles/ ice cream available to onsen users. No mini-fridge nor microwave in the rm. Breakfast buffet cost 2300¥/pax with mostly cold dishes, hot food only a handful of choices - wished could be more though; but they do serve wine (red+ white). Will stay again.
