Das Zimmer war sauber und komfortabel! !
The hotel is very clean and the room is spacious. The only two things that I dislike is the separate toilet and bath which is small plus no hook to hang clothes and need to climb a slope everytime you go in/out of the hotel.
a last minute short ski trip found me checking out this resort and it suited me just fine. I only had time to ski for 2 days and was pleasantly surprised by the good value for money here. Arriving in the early morning from Ueno on the 0649hr Shinkansen, I hopped onto the 0810hr hotel shuttle, registered myself at the front desk (had my room assigned but check in was at 3pm) and found myself on the slope just shortly after 9am. Hotel guests also have free use of a locker to keep our equipment overnight.
I was contemplating to visit another slope (maybe Gala or Iwappara) the next day but enjoyed myself enough to save the hassle and continue skiing at Naspa Ski Garden on the second day. Ski passes for both days were free for hotel guests (although I only stayed a night). Breakfast was a sumptuous spread of buffet the next morning. Room was large, nice and clean. Onsen was perfect. I checked out after breakfast, left my bags with storage and at the end of the day, use the changing area to pack up before catching the hotel shuttle to Echigo Yuzawa Station. I managed to do some shopping in Ginza and had a great sushi meal there before heading to the hotel.
I will certainly return!
A big thank you to all the staff!
Very nice place to stay! Quiet during the spring/summer period due to the area being more popular in winter. Very near Echigo Yuzawa Station within 5min walk. Was welcomed into the hotel nicely with complimentary matcha and snack. Upon check in there was even a cute Gachapon game in which you could win one of their special Niigata/Yuzawa stuff! I won a small pack of Niigata rice.
Room was clean and spacious with a comfy futon bed. The public baths were so nice and well maintained! The staff here are very friendly and attentive. If you did not reserve their special dinner/breakfast set, you can still do say with 2 days advanced order over the front desk. I also love that they provide free shuttle to the station at check out upon request! Definitely staying here again if ever back in the area 🫶🏼
Highly recommended. Clean, comfortable, type c, fast lightning cable was provided…nice view from the room. Easily accessible by public transport since the location is next to Niigata station (bus, train, taxi, shinkansen) next to cocola mall (inside got 3 coins, eateries, pharmacy, coffee shop, famous udon shop, xebion sports, diors etc), lawson, family mart, 7e.. Walking distance to Donki, Isetan…
just name it!
Best location, which is near to Niigata JR Train station (with lots of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets & convi stores). Room is clean & spacious with affortable price, will conside to stay at the same hotel if return to Niigata again.

GGastnutzerThe hotel itself was nice, but the staff at the ski resort was horrible, the rentals are also not well maintained. The boards are not waxed, which makes it difficult to work with as there are a lot of flat routes which are difficult to avoid (Pony and village road were the flattest slope Ive ever seen in my life, I had to unstrap and walk and the board just wouldn't move). Ski resort staff were unfriendly and the rental staff was the worst, there was a lady there that was cold and rude. The only reason why the rental shop is surviving is probably because the equipments are salomon branded and that there is no other option. I would visit again but only because the routes are fun, Myoko long run was the best, but I would never want to rent from the shop again.
The food was very very good. For breakfast, you could choose from western or Japanese buffet. Western buffet is highly recommended, the omelette was the best ive eaten in my life and there was a diy risotto which was great as well. For dinner, there were 4 options, either buffet, steak, Japanese or shabushabu. All requiring reservations which is tough if you are checking in the evening as some might not be available. Highly recommend the steak, the food was good and the staff were amazing. Japanese was the hardest to get a reservation for but the food was quite underwhelming. The room was clean and ski lockers are also provided but it's tiny and can barely fit 2 boards. But I wish that in the toilet in the common area, you can adjust the tap temperature as the water is freezing cold.
Amenities wise, bottled water are provided daily, also, yukata was provided but you can only wear them to the onsen which was extremely troublesome as I had to change multiple times a day.
The hotel provides shuttle bus services to and fro jyoetsumyoko station which was easy to book. The bus drivers were also friendly and helped out with the luggage.
In summary, for a 5 stars hotel, it didn't live up to expectations, ski resort and rental staffs were unwilling to help and unfriendly. Also, some of the staffs could not speak Japanese which is puzzling for a hotel in Japan. If not for the amazing snow and slopes I would never come back.
GGastnutzerWe would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your exceptional kindness and support.
Yesterday, we were unfortunately involved in a car accident. The hotel was very understanding and kindly allowed us to reschedule our stay to another day. We were deeply touched by your flexibility and consideration.
Today, we experienced another accident in the mountains. During this difficult time, one the staff was incredibly kind and supportive. She helped us communicate and translate with the police, ensuring that we could clearly explain the situation and receive assistance. Her help was truly invaluable in getting us safely rescued.
In addition, the hotel manager and staffs generously drove us from the police station back to the hotel and assisted us with the necessary follow-up arrangements. Their patience, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond their duties meant so much to us.
We are truly grateful for the care and support we received. It has been a blessing to be guests at Oosado Hotel, and we will always remember your kindness.
GGastnutzerThe hotel is atmosphere with a nice blend of the old and new. It is located not too far from Uonuma no Sato and have a complimentary shuttle service to and fro Hatago Isen opposite Echigo Yuzawa Station. The room is big and there is nice heated table area. The bathroom is nice but as with traditional lodgings such as this, it can be pretty cold especially at the bathroom area in winter.
Dinner was served in a bento format at our room. I was a little disappointed that it is a not a proper sit-down meal at the main dining area instead. The bento includes two generously sized onigiri, appetizers, and four main items including a meat patty, grilled fish and braised wagyu.
The onsen bath is also quite nice and loved the bath with the snowy landscaped garden.
Service is generally good and there are snacks and drinks available at the lounge for guests. In the evening, there is also sake and umeshu available for guests.

GGastnutzerI’m giving my honest opinion. This is my first unsatisfied review for a hotel room. I was very disappointed by the room for the price I paid. I paid more for this room than what I paid for luxury upscaled room near Tokyo Disney. The photos online were very deceiving. When I entered my room, it was gross, i cringed, and my toes curled. I didn’t want to put my belongings down. The carpet was old and disgusting. The pull out couch bed was gross. There were stains on the couch back rest and the mattress. The sheet for the mattress was too small it didn’t cover the stained mattress. The beds were hard and didn’t feel clean. The shower curtain had a bad odor. The room was very dated. Since this hotel is pretty secluded and other hotels were booked we had to make do. I’m glad we only stayed one night. On a better note, the staff were very friendly and service was great. Location for skiing was amazing, and the free shuttle bus was fabulous. Naeba Prince Hotel really need to do better with their rooms. I was looking forward to bringing my entire family of 14 to stay a few nights next year, but after seeing the rooms, I will not stay here again unless they renovate their rooms which are in dire need of upgrades.

LLieu Munn LoongMy wife and I have had a 3-night stay at this Toyoko Inn Joetsu Myok Eli Nishi Gucci Room #1306 from 13 to 16 October 2025.
The Hotel is just a 1-minute walk away from the Joetsumyoko Station. Similar to other Toyoko Inns, the modest reception is on the First Floor and it has limited parking lots on besides the Hotel, and also a bigger open car park about a 2-minute walk away. So we are grateful and thankful that we were given a lot for just ¥300 per day for 3 days at the open car park very nearby. The Hotel staff are polite and helpful, and are not quite able to communicate in simple English.
As the Hotel is located quite away from the city centre of this very small city, so there is no shopping centre nearby except a few eateries are near the Station and within comfortable walking distance.
The hotel room is the standard typical type whereby it is small but very clean. The bed and pillows are comfortable for our liking, and the small bathroom - again the typical Japanese type - is clean and its has strong water pressure for a comfortable shower.
Like all Toyoko Inns, the Hotel provides daily breakfast of simple home cook styles; varieties are limited, but it is very comforting that gives a nice start for the day. Also, it offers free coffee and tea via machines 24 hours daily.
At SGD S$97 per night with breakfast, we find it value for money and we will choose to stay here if we travel to Joetsu or Myoko again.
