Der Hotelservice war sehr gut, allerdings gab es beim Frühstück Fliegen. Das Frühstück selbst war jedoch ausgezeichnet, sauber und hygienisch. Man konnte in der Küche Wasserflaschen kaufen. Die Zimmer waren geräumig und hell, und man half uns mit dem Gepäck.

Westin Surabaya is a beautiful property with gorgeous views and amenities and impeccable service to match. The pool and surrounds are pleasant for swimming. The Club room is very comfortable, quiet and feels fresh all round. The heavenly bed is such a delight to sleep in. The Club lounge is one of the most outstanding hotel lounges I have frequented. The views from the 39th floor are divine whether day or night. Service levels in the Club lounge are impeccable from each and every staff member.. so welcoming, professional with beautiful hospitality. Food selection, drinks and comfort all round. Nila and all of her lovely colleagues are truly at an inspiring level of excellence.

Delicious Indonesian Javanese food specially created by the host, May, as well as the level of dedicated service is the highlight of this hotel. The menu food sounds unappealing, but all 7 lunch and dinners were so good. You have to try the chicken satay, which is soft and has white clean meat. The tuna is melted and panini is so fresh. The spaghetti cakalang is her created recipe of smoked fish and spaghetti. Her tofu and Tempe must not be missed! Her tempong chicken is yummy and fresh! Feels like it's directly from the farm. Nasi goreng must not be missed! Papayas seem to be in the season. Fried bananas covered in coconut flakes are not to be missed! In this hotel, don't expect luxury cleanliness because there are a lot of insects (bees, butterflies, moths, grasshopper, flies), spiders, millipedes, lizards, even a gecko. If you want to stay in this rustic resort you have to be okay with them. I didn't like the insects stuff in the room but the hosts immediately sent their staff to deal with them. Staff are friendly just be patient with them because not all speak English. May was a super host, who gave ALL sorts of ideas on where to go, and how to go, and gives you contacts and numbers and details. Ibnu makes the best dirty latte in Banyuwangi, most probably. The hosts are very nice and go out of the way to make their guests welcome. They even dropped us at a nearby tour site, and also gave us a short walk to the beach nearby. This level of service is almost unbeatable. Staff are always ready and welcome to greet and smile at you. I think the Indonesian and Javanese meals are better than the breakfast menu. Breakfast pancake and American breakfast normal only. They generously dropped us off at Bangsring Underwater which was 3-5 mins away, which MUST NOT BE MISSED for snorkelling beginners! (But first check out if the season is good for snorkelling) If you stay here, be prepared there's not much in the area. And not much air-conditioned cafes or restaurant or shops nearby too. The family room has a breathtaking view of the mountains but because of the attic like structure, is prone to insects and lizards and stuff. It had a resident gecko. The deluxe suite room had a flat ceiling so lesser insects! + huge verandah for drying your clothes + pink bougainvillea. There are corn fields beside the hotel. They send food to your room if you don't want to eat in the restaurant which also has a amazing view. Restaurant has rustic vibes with antique candelabras (+ spiders).

Baobab Safari Resort is located quite far from Surabaya city centre, but it is definitely worth the approximately 1-hour drive from Surabaya Airport. We booked two connecting rooms, both with balconies. We were assigned to Level 4, and the view was absolutely magnificent, overlooking Mount Arjuno and Mount Welirang. Waking up to the mountain scenery was truly refreshing. Cooling weather, fresh air and beautiful scenery. Food Experience The highlight of the meals was the Nasi Rawon. The beef was very tender—soft and melt-in-the-mouth—and the soup was rich and flavourful. The portion size was generous. Other food items were acceptable but nothing particularly outstanding. For breakfast, however, the buffet spread was rather limited, especially in terms of meat and protein options. Room & Amenities The room itself looked decent but slightly dated. That said, the beautiful view more than compensated for it. One important note: do stock up on your own bottled water before arriving. The hotel uses refillable glass bottles, and unfortunately, the wooden covers of the glass containers appeared very mouldy, which was quite off-putting. Activities & Environment There are plenty of activities available. A walk through the Enchanted Forest thats full of pine trees and feeding area for Capybara, Lama, Sheep is possible, though you’ll need to take a buggy from another area. The Safari Zoo is located separately but can be arranged by the hotel. Animals around the hotel can be fed according to scheduled timings. Waterbucks, however, can be fed with carrots 🥕, which were provided by the hotel on the day of check-in. The lobby and dining areas were a standout—beautifully designed and facing the roaming animals while still maintaining a safe boundary within their designated area. Animal Welfare I have always been quite sceptical about zoo animals in Indonesia due to past negative experiences, where animal welfare did not seem well cared for. However, Baobab Safari Resort truly changed my perspective. The environment is clean, the animals appear well fed, and I frequently saw zookeepers actively present in the animal areas, feeding hay and grass to the zebras, waterbucks, buffaloes, and giraffes. It was reassuring and heartening to see such care and commitment. This experience made me believe that proper education and responsible management really do help build a better environment for zoo animals. Overall, it was a meaningful and memorable stay for my family.

Das ist mein zweites Mal hier. Das Personal ist wirklich nett und will Sie jeden einzelnen Zeitpunkt begrüßen. Ich hatte ein Problem mit dem Aircondition nicht genug kalt. Der Techniker, Front Desk sind alle sehr geduldig und auf meine Anfrage aufmerksam. Die Reaktion war schnell und ich hatte auch eine Zimmerveränderung. Das Zimmer ist sehr geräumig mit einem großen Blick auf die Stadt. Einrichtungen reichlich und wird Ihren Bedürfnissen gerecht. Ich hatte eine gute drei Nächte Ruhe und einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt hier. Ich würde dieses Hotel definitiv empfehlen.

We stayed at Grand Mercure Malang Mirama for our honeymoon for 3 nights and 4 days, and honestly, it was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. My wife absolutely loved everything about this hotel, and so did I. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. We were welcomed by Wike from the front office, and she truly made our stay extra special. She was always smiling, respectful, kind, and very helpful throughout our stay. She even offered us free activities and vouchers, which was such a nice touch. The biggest surprise was that we got upgraded to the Executive Suite, the highest room category in the hotel. Huge thanks to Wike for making our honeymoon unforgettable! The room itself was unbelievable. Beautiful views, a huge living room, separate bedroom, and an amazing bathroom with a bathtub overlooking the view. Everything felt luxurious and very comfortable. Since it was our honeymoon, the room was also beautifully decorated and we were welcomed with a fruit basket, which made us feel really special. Breakfast was another highlight. The variety was insane so many options that we honestly didn’t know what to choose. Everything we tried was delicious. One thing that really stood out was the staff. I’ve traveled quite a lot, but the service here felt different. Every single staff member we met smiled, greeted us warmly, checked if everything was okay, and helped immediately whenever needed. You can really feel the genuine hospitality here. We also received a complimentary photoshoot from the hotel, which was such a lovely experience. The photographer was great, and we even got a printed photo in a frame to take home as a memory. The only disappointing part during our stay was the Teppanyaki experience at the Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations at all. The chef only cooked in front of us without any interaction or entertainment, and when I tried making conversation, she seemed annoyed. Considering how expensive it was, it honestly felt very underwhelming. I personally wouldn’t recommend the Teppanyaki experience there. Other than that, everything was truly amazing. Even though I don’t remember everyone’s names, thank you to every single staff member who made our honeymoon so memorable. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely come back again. Das ist wirklich ein richtig cooles Hotel. Als jemand, der Vintage-Sachen liebt, bin ich total begeistert. Vom historischen Gebäude bis zum Zimmer im Vintage-Stil – alles hat mich in die 90er und frühen 2000er Jahre zurückversetzt. Was für eine Nostalgie! 🥺 Als Kind bin ich mit meinen Großeltern oft verreist und wir haben in Hotels übernachtet. Deshalb haben solche Hotels einen besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen. Leider hatte ich den Eindruck, dass hier stark am Budget gespart wurde. Obwohl das Zimmer am Wochenende sehr günstig war (nicht mehr als 250.000 IDR inklusive Frühstück), waren die Handtücher nicht mehr weiß und fühlten sich dünn an (ganz anders als in anderen Hotels), die Bettwäsche hatte harte Stellen und es gab keine Duschhaube. Die Seife und das Shampoo mit Zitronengrasduft fand ich aber super, und da sie in Spendern waren, entstand weniger Plastikmüll. Das Frühstück war wirklich enttäuschend. Vor ein paar Jahren war es noch gut. Diesmal war es schlechter. Es gab nicht viel Auswahl und es wirkte leer. Ich hatte wirklich den Eindruck, dass sie sich nicht viel Mühe gegeben hatten. Naja, was erwartet man schon für den Preis? Ich verstehe ja, dass sie vielleicht ein sehr knappes Budget haben. Mir fiel auf, dass sie ein Schild mit der Aufschrift „Mini-Zoo“ angebracht hatten. Ein Mitarbeiter warnte mich, dass es noch nicht viele Tiere gäbe. Trotzdem beschloss ich, es mir anzusehen. Es stellte sich heraus, dass es sich am Rand der Parkplatzstraße befand (aber im Freien). Dort gab es Fische und einen großen Vogel (ähnlich einem Huhn, aber anders, ich weiß nicht, was es war). Und ein paar Wellensittiche in zwei separaten Käfigen, die alle tot waren 😭😭 Ich sagte es einem Mitarbeiter, und sie entfernten die toten Vögel schnell. Gute Idee, aber schlecht umgesetzt. Aber die Lage war top. Nur wenige Meter gegenüber war eine Bushaltestelle, und man konnte mit dem Suroboyo-Bus überall hinfahren. Das Hotel selbst lag in einer Hauptstraße eines beliebten Viertels (der Altstadt von Surabaya), mit einem historischen Gebäudekomplex und ganz in der Nähe von Chinatown. Ich hoffe wirklich, dass sie diese Wirtschaftskrise überstehen. Ich liebe dieses Hotel wirklich 🥺.
