Came to Zakopane with a group of friends for a friend’s wedding. My booking was just for 2 people, and our friends booked separately in a premium room. When we arrived at Willa Regina, the place was beautiful - gorgeous mountains all around. We saw there was a restaurant underneath and a shop next to it which was very convenient. Once we had dodged hanging wood and letchy labourers outside the front door, we were greeted by a pleasant receptionist and went to our room - 33. The room smelt and looked pleasant, and the balcony was nice. However, the longer we spent in the room, the more issues came to light. Firstly, the bathroom was catastrophic. Our friends’ toilet downstairs wasn’t working, so the receptionist came to check our bathroom too and it was all fine. However, as soon as she left, the sink tap stopped working and never worked again - the water either came out brown and with silt in, or came out dripping. We had to keep buying bottled water to brush our teeth. The shower pressure dropped to zero on the first night while my girlfriend had a shower, then the brown water came out again. The shower is just a shower head in the bath, but the ceiling above the bath is slanted, so you have to either sit down or squat to have a shower. At times the toilet wouldn’t flush either. Secondly, the sheets had blood on them, which was not noticed until the next morning when making the bed. Thirdly, the room facilities were quite subpar - the pillows were very thin and there was only one each. You only got one towel each and it wasn’t massive either. The room was never cleaned throughout the stay and the towels never replaced. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom, but no iron. In fairness, the receptionist managed to get us an iron and board for our suits and dresses. Another thing that was slightly concerning was the amount that the hotel contacted me. The receptionist called me several times on my mobile from her personal number, asking if I wanted food etc, despite already saying I wouldn’t be eating there. Our friends stayed in a premium room and had to pay a deposit of 500zl, which would be returned cash in hand at the end. I was staying for an extra day, but I got a phone call (on my mobile again) from the receptionist to say the manager forgot to give my friends their money back, the manager was at church for a national holiday, and nobody would be on the premises until 2pm. She asked if I could collect their money on their behalf later on in the day. Although we were all friends, I had nothing to do with their booking, and found this extremely unprofessional that a guest was being asked to do the manager’s dirty work for them. I would recommend a visit to Zakopane to absolutely anyone, but not the Willa Regina.
