Courtyard Newport News Yorktown

Location is perfectly convenient around eating places. The hotel is definitely not Marriot standards. Upon arrival I noticed the filthy carpet in hallway. The room ac unit was noisy, the bathroom faucets and bathtub showed rust spots, a hole in wall behind door, the room tv is not positioned to watch while lying in bed, the mattress was worn, dirty bathroom door handle.. among other things. We initially booked for 2 nights. After our disappointment, we changed our reservation to 1 night. Definitely a bad representation for the prestige Marriot.

One of the worst Marriott experiences. Stayed 3 nights. Holes in the bathroom ceiling, spiders in the bathroom, very saggy bed and not very clean. The room was in need of an upgrade. The bottom of the A/C was falling off. I have stayed at many Marriott’s, this one needs a total overhaul.

Reserved a couple of rooms so the family could attend graduation ceremonies at Christopher Newport University. While we reserved early, we still ended up paying jacked-up rates well beyond the value this property provided. I understand market pricing, but this was ridiculous ... and this was the least expensive property in the area. The rooms were nice, and clean, though the beds were soft and not up to the usual Marriott brand standard. Otherwise, a fine stay, with pleasant staff.

Clean hotel. Comfortable beds. the staff was amazing. Could be less expensive because you are paying for the area and not the rooms, but all in all, the hotel is nice. did not get my points for staying here two nights. If they had a restaurant it would be even better.

Nice and elegant - very clean and a lot of amenities to enjoy your stay. A fun and friendly vibe - nice atmosphere Nice bar and sitting error in lobby - rooms are spacious. Nice location and fast foods nearby

This is BY FAR the worst Bonvoy Marriott experience I’ve ever had. I booked my room for Nov 10th-12th for an event I had to attend on Nov 11th. What a waste of money. The first room(104) had a more than outdated tub that had both cracks and rust spots. I always request a walk-in shower. Somehow I didn’t get that. I was told there were no more rooms. I shared with the associate I had an injured knee and could not step in the tub and 2 minutes later a room across the hall(107) was available. This room had the walk-in shower but the corners of the shower were absolutely disgusting. I kept convincing myself I could tough it out but I couldn’t!!!! I couldn’t take a shower. I went to the desk again, to share that room experience. Again, “Sorry there are absolutely no rooms available.” I was upset as I live over an hour away and had an event to attend early that morning. The two associates(one in training) made two more “unavailable “ rooms available so I could look at those to see if they were acceptable. The first option(109) ruined it for me. The bathroom shower was beyond disgusting!!!!!!!! I didn’t bother to go to the third floor. I shared that with the front desk. They did apologize. I paid in full at the time of reservation so my money was non-refundable. I was reminded I could still cancel my reservation but will not be refunded. The associate asked me to please let her know if I decided to cancel. NO MA’AM, I am not going to let you know so you all can rebook this room and get paid twice for it. But I also don’t want to see another room. Instead, I packed my stuff at 8:30 pm and drove over an hour back to my home and had to drive back to the area the next morning. Marriott SHAME ON YOU. Instead of focusing on trying to make the furnishings appealing fix those disgusting bathrooms!!!!!!!! Also, clean what looks like blood spots on the walls in room 107! ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️ I’m a DISAPPOINTED BONVOY MEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank god it was only 1 night. We were in town for a wedding and thought that staying at a Marriot courtyard would be solid. The bathroom was disgusting !!!! The beds were so so .. sheets had - funky smell. The AC units looked like they had not been cleaned for years and the vents were rusted and smelly. Would not stay there again.

My fiance and I stayed in this hotel ahead of our cruise. The hotel is located in a safe area and is close to lots of restaurants and shopping. That being said, I wouldn't go out of my way to rely on the lobby "restaurant" for food. While it's sold to potential guests as a fast casual restaurant with breakfast, dinner, and bar service; it is actually just a counter. It didn't seem to be adequately staffed either in the morning or evening. At one point, we called down for a wine opener, which they could not find... The room itself was clean; however, we found a large, live bug (some sort of beetle) in the bathroom. Bed was super comfortable!

My husband and I visited this area recently for a quick weekend getaway. From check in to check out, our stay was fantastic. We arrived early morning and thankfully a room was ready. Keena, the lovely lady at check in, was so nice and made us feel so welcome. As a Marriott Platinum Elite member, I was greeted as such and was provided with a nice gift of water and a candy bar. (She also threw in a water for my husband.) She was very professional and it was a great start to our stay. The hotel was very clean and every employee I came in contact with was super nice. The pool was also very clean and inviting but unfortunately we didn't have time to enjoy it on this trip. Hopefully, next time. The room that we were in on the 3rd floor was really nice and clean with "hardwood" flooring throughout, except for under the bed itself. We were in a 2 Queen room which was spacious for the two of us. The room had plenty of lighting and there were also reading lamps next to the beds. There was a microwave and a mini fridge included as well. The bathroom was nice but there was a design flaw that could be easily corrected if management cares to deal with it. While in the shower, the glass sliding doors are great however, water leaks out on the floor and makes its way into the other part of the room where the sink and closet are. We put a towel down to soak up the water so it wasn't a big deal for us but could be a problem if you don't see the water - potential hazard. The shower is on the smaller size, however, the designers finally got smart and added some shelves to the shower so that you can put your various soaps on it. Very happy for the shelving! (They did provide shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the shower.) Parking seemed ample and we did not have any problems. There are a few restaurants in the area, two of which are basically in the same parking lot. There are also stores close by for any last minute items you may need. Lots of museums and other things in the area to do as well. Overall, it was a fantastic stay and I'm looking forward to coming back.
