Yorkway Motel

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay at The Yorkway Motel. The room was clean and cozy. The staff was amazing and friendly. Breakfast each morning was anticipated as the eggs were always cooked to perfection. If ever in Pocklington and need a great place to rest your head we highly recommend this great Motel.

The reception staff weee very friendly. I went a few times for extra pillows, there are an extra two in the room , but we had a three bed room . This was no trouble and we could choose teas from the coffee machine area, if not the ones we wanted in the room . The room was large and well appointed . There was a blanket over the duvet . The bathroom had a bath and shower over with a non slip mat to put into the bath . The towels were plentiful and fluffy on a heated towel rail . Toiletries were lovely . The toilet paper was very thin but plenty of it . Breakfast was plain fare but cooked freshly and filling . Drinks machine for hot drinks and jugs of milk and juices brought to the table. There is a main A road at the back of some rooms, but get used to the noise. Lots of parking in front of the rooms and extra in the centre. It’s a big site and pleasant outlook .

We were visiting friends in Pocklington for a special birthday party and chose to stay at the Yorkway Motel for 2 nights because it was only a short drive from their home. We were a little anxious, despite the good reviews on line, as we had not stayed in a motel in decades and were not sure what to expect. We couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The reception, bar and dining area are located within the old original farmhouse and are bright, modern and very tastefully decorated. We received a very warm welcome from the gentleman on reception, who told us not to hesitate if there was anything we needed. Our room was really very well appointed. It was spotlessly clean, again very tastefully decorated, with good quality carpets, curtains, fixtures and fittings, There were more accessible electrical sockets than we have experienced in some 5* hotels worldwide, good lighting and a powerful hairdryer. Ample hanging space and good mirrors were an added bonus. Good supply of tea, coffee, etc and efficient electric kettle. The bathroom was very clean and light, with a wide walk-in shower, good lighting above the mirror, ample toiletries and quality towels. The weather was very hot and humid when we stayed and we wondered whether the absence of air conditioning would be a problem. However, the management had thoughtfully provided an electric fan, which kept the room at a bearable temperature all night and we both slept very well. We had one of the rooms nearest to the road, but experienced no traffic noise whatsoever through either the door or the windows. The lounge and bar area were beautifully decorated and had a nice ambience. We called in for a quick G&T before leaving for our party and the lady who served us (one of the managers I believe) was very friendy and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent - good choice of cereals, next to a clearly labelled and simple to use machine for coffee and tea. Jugs of milk and juice were brought to the table by our server, Lauren, who was delightful, friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfasts were excellent, with the best poached eggs we have ever had - always the sign of a good cook! We cannot fault the Yorkway Motel. We would definitely choose to stay there again if we were visiting the area and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. We had a lovely weekend and the Yorkway Motel was the icing on the (birthday) cake!

This is our absolute favorite place we’ve visited here. The evening meal and breakfast are sensational, the room was totally perfect, but the genuine kindness and interest in helping us with whatever we needed was above and beyond what anyone would expect. Don’t miss a chance to stay here if you can! Thank you!

Stopped on the way to the coast cycling the Yorkshire Wolds. Made very welcome, nothing was too much trouble, really friendly staff, excellent food, lovely clean and comfortable rooms and great bike storage facility and great smooth gin!

Great car park, cosy clean rooms, no air con. Tea an coffee provided, and towels and soap. Tv on wall, small, not a smart tv. Dated. Slight road noise, couldn’t leave windows open on hot night. Staff were accomaditing, especially Loraine and Michelle. Owners live on site, being elderly complained we sat out at their supplied seating area on a lovely Friday night, still light at 10 pm. They removed the cushions from under us as we sat, and took the umbrella away. Staff were unhappy, huffed at us for asking for 2 bowls of chips at 8 pm Saturday night, even though they was still cooking. An elderly man serving drinks ignored me when I said hello. Not made to feel welcome. Advised to sit else where the next evening outside. Saying we paid £700 for 3 rooms for 2 nights, we won’t be returning. Recommended as a last resort.

We recently had a long weekend stay (Fri to Sun) at Yorkway Motel, Pocklington, Yorks for a little under £700 for 5 adults, for 2 nights. The rooms were clean, tidy & fairly modern, so the accommodation was fine. One of the staff in particular, Michelle, was very friendly & gave us a lovely warm welcome throughout our stay, Lorraine was also very pleasant. However, apart from this the rest of our experience wasn’t at all welcoming. As the weather was lovely on the Friday evening, we sat at one of the tables just outside the foyer, chatting & playing a game, whilst enjoying a few drinks (only 2 of the 5 of us were drinking alcohol & only had 3 drinks, so in no way were we loud or rowdy). However, unbeknown to us, the motel owners room was directly above our table & I believe their fathers room was very close to it. Later that evening the father kept staring at us through his window & the owners eventually closed their windows. Around 10pm a member of staff came & took all the seat cushions inside (including ours) & put all of the umbrellas down, as the bar closes at 10pm. We felt as if we weren’t welcome there, so 2 of us went to our room shortly afterwards & the other 3 carried on talking ‘quietly’, for a while, before going to our rooms around 10.45pm. As 2 adults in their 50's, 2 early 60's & 1 young adult, we don't expect to be made to feel we should go to bed early, when we're away for a few days! After getting back from a day out, the next evening (Sat) we sat at the same table until a member of staff asked us to move to another table, which was a little further away from the owners & fathers rooms. We’d eaten early that day (around 4pm) so when we got back to the Yorkway, about 7.45pm (the restaurant serves from 6 to 8pm), we fancied a little snack, so asked if it was possible to do us a couple of portions of chips. They did oblige, but the member of staff we asked, huffed & then said, “I knew this would happen, I asked you last night if you were going to be eating here tonight”; we felt that this was extremely rude. We didn’t expect to be ‘told off’ because the night before we said we wouldn’t be eating in the restaurant; it’s not even as if we asked for full meals, just a few chips, to be eaten outside! They said they’d had a really busy night in the restaurant, having 20 place settings (not exactly what I’d call busy!). 1 of us went to the bar when we arrived back on Sat, & said “Good Evening” to the barman, but got no reply whatsoever. So to summarise, the rooms were clean, tidy & modern, we were made to feel very welcome by Michelle & Lorraine, but the rest of our experience was not at all friendly or welcoming. Suffice to say, we won’t be staying there again.

We always stay at The Yorkway when visiting family in the area. Such a friendly welcome, the room is great and the bed comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The breakfast is really good and we had a lovely meal in the Spokes restaurant. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough-it’s the best place for a great nights sleep (or more!)

Brilliant place to stay, good size rooms, great facilities, pleasant and helpful staff. They offer a great gluten free breakfast and lots of options on the evening menu as well.
