Novastar Motel on the Lake

I wish I read reviews more carefully and had taken an active role in planning this weekend getaway. Booked for 2 nights. Decided to flee after the first night of sleeping in our sleeping bags. The filth was on par with any third world country I have been to Their was no refund or service to be had. If you are looking for the dark tourist experience regarding motels, with the war, crime and filth to tie it all in, well you came to the right place. I was taken back to those special times overseas surrounded by Hell. I was able to endure however my wife's nightmares will last forever. l will sum up with the description. The view is absolutely stunning. Cute little spot on the hill. this draws you in and that is where the fun ends. Front desk would not give a second key, would not let you inspect the room until you paid. Would not refund the money as was their policy. All 6 plugs went into one outlet, fire hazard, cold water filled with brown sediment, exterior lights that shined in the room. Had to keep the curtains drawn for the light beaming in while keeping windows for airflow and the stink from the room. Electrical wires running across the ceiling into the adjacent room. Filthy overall experience not to mention the deck in desperate rotten disrepair to the point of falling over the embankment towards the highway soon. I would rather go back to a conflict zone than to even consider a stay at the Novastar. Believe me, there are no stars here and forget common decency and the English language as there is none of each. Scummiest place in Yarmouth. Bravo. Awful!! We reserved a room, entered it and turned around and slept in our car. We made the right decision. Place was scary - cob webs, no A/C, no security, paint peeling off the walls, etc. Need I say more - don’t waste your money. You won’t be able to sleep.

We stayed for 17 days at this motel. We were very happy with our stay here - the room with a kitchen. We were greeting with a happy friendly staff who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The other guests were quiet, the view of the lake was lovely. We wanted a low key holiday here enjoying some of the events during the sea festival. One issue we had was the WiFi in our room( that was at the end). Special thanks to Wendy and Felix and our “ morning Lady”. All five star people.

The room was clean and that is where it ends. Place needs a major overhaul. Way over priced for what is provided. 1-Beds uncomfortable 2-No hot water 3-Morning Front Desk person very very curt and unfriendly (She put a few things out and then disappeared) 4-Breakfast...Really bad coffee, Muffins were as dry as dirt, Oat Meal in pouch was hard (had to break it up with a spoon-I only assume was last year's product) DO NOT...DO NOT STAY HERE......BETTER OF TO STAY IN A TENT

Nova Star is a clean, basic motel with rooms that look across the road to a lovely lake. We stayed on our way to the CAT ferry to Bar Harbour. The location is quite convenient to the ferry, just a 5 minute drive. I can not sat enough good things about the staff. Kind and helpful at check in and then amazing later. I left my phone in the room, discovered this just as we were getting on the ferry. Amanda, the morning staffer brought my phone to the ferry when she got off shift for the day and the ferry brought it to Bar Harbour for me! Thank you, Amanda! Thank you NovaStar!
