Pacific Hotel Yamba

Our favourite ocean front hotel. Come back every year.

I have been here many times before but have increasingly found the value for money at the restaurant less on each visit. This time I ordered the fish of the day which was salmon. I was told it was served on a bed of potatoes with a tomato-based sauce for $36. I asked were they any other vegetables - no - could I have some? Yes, a plate of steamed veg for $12, bringing the cost of the meal to $48. The fish arrived first, lukewarm on a spoonful of chopped potato. Followed by a plate of steamed veg, thankfully hot and delicious. While flavoursome, the price could not be justified. A meal should be complete, not served on a shoddy spoonful of potato which forces patrons to purchase plates of vegetables. It should also be served hot.

When travelling down the East Coast of Australia it probably doesn’t occur to use Yamba as a stopover as it is a little way off the Highway. I stopped and had dinner at the Pacific Hotel Yamba, first class, great views of the Ocean friendly staff and lovely meal. Travelling you take for granted poor meals but then when you have an excellent meal it really stands out. I had the fish of the day a grilled snapper fillet, cooked simply and beautifully.

Fantastic food. Great service. Rustic no fuss feel. Never fails to impress. Been a long time between visits but still a chilled place to visit. Come here with an open mind, it’s not your 5 star luxury Sydney restaurant, it’s better, enjoy the b pace, the experience for what it is.

Lovely, quiet spot with beautiful views for a cold drink. Drinks are reasonably priced during happy hour. Unfortunately the meal was not great which was disappointing. The menu was limited and a lot of their choices on the board was not available.

Food - so very disappointed, 7 of us went out for a family dinner. Ordered cutlets, ribeye, fish of the day. Not one of our meals was delicious as usual. Lamb Cutlets were old and overcooked (did get a refund on these no problems). Vegetables were roasted, however looked tired and old, tasted dry. Steak was way too big & presented ugly, looked like slop. Fish was overcooked and dry! Really hope they improve soon so we can return as our regular eating venue. Have been eating here for years and never had a bad meal.

The best overnight stay ever, the room was spotless, attention to detail with toiletries, seat pads for the outside chairs..and then WOW the view onto the ocean was mindblowing, superb comfortable bed , we watched the moon come up, had the best night's sleep then woke to the sunrise..will definitely be back.

Whilst the pub is good for a beer, with a good choice of beers, friendly staff, and a great view, the room I had was terrible. The room had a glass door into a common area with no curtain, so no privacy and the sun blazed through at 5:45am. The room also had no ventilation at all, the window could not be opened so I had to sleep with the door propped ajar. There was also a kitchenette right outside the window, so I was awoken by people using the kettle and microwave throughout the night. Such a shame as the location is fantastic.

Ordered a double patty burger with mustard pickles etc. Sounded great so I declined the frys. Not something I would normally Order but Sounded great. Whilst it tastes ok even if a little dry the presentation of this and my partners meal was fair removed from the description that was on the menu and if seen in advance would have gone elsewhere. Very nice view though
