When I booked a one-week early summer stay for my wife & me @ Hollies Farm, I thought the "Farm" part referred to a separately owned agricultural property next to the B&B. Much to my surprise - and our delight - the B&B owners are permanent residents whose main business is raising sheep & cattle on a beautiful rural farm. It was a PERFECT place for us to relax between daily tourism excursions around North Wales, and my wife fell in love with the week-old lambs that we could watch in the pasture adjacent to the B&B property. So when we weren't napping or admiring the lovely gardens around the property or giving the retired sheepdog Jim some of the attention he craved, we would walk over to the south pasture & watch the lambs learn to be sheep while the cows went about their grazing. The Hollies Farm proprietors Nicola & Paul could not have been more friendly & accommodating throughout our visit, and even prior to our arrival. The list of area pubs & restaurants provided before our stay was greatly appreciated for our evening meal planning; the Pant-yr-Ochain in Gresford (once we found the proper exit from the motorway) and the Cross Foxes in Erbistock (where we ate twice) each earned exceptional dining & hospitality marks with us. Even when they were busy tending to daily farm chores, Nicola & Paul took time out to answer our local questions & tend to our guest needs (incl. getting me back into our suite when I locked myself out :-( ) & to chat about life experiences. Nicola was equally cordial & attentive during our daily breakfasts, which were fresh & delicious with locally sourced products (including Hollies Farm-fresh eggs). After several days of flavorful but belly-filling Full English breakfasts, Nicola graciously agreed to cut back on the volume of our remaining morning meals to reduce our need for a morning nap. We stayed in the Countess Suite across the attractive courtyard from the guest wing/breakfast room of the house. The courtyard had a table & chairs for lounging and fresh air after our long day trips, a large vegetable garden, and a pleasant view of the B&B property. We also enjoyed admiring the regularly-tended flower gardens along the main house entry drive & front of the house. Old Jim's large doghouse was adjacent to the Suite, so we could watch him through the kitchenette window come & go while the black-billed magpies swooped in to steal his dog food. The Suite accommodations were ideal for our 7-night stay, with a large comfortable bed & a desk with chair & a small sofa for lounging & a large wall-mounted TV all in the bedroom space. The separate kitchenette offered a small refrigerator to keep our water bottles & soft drinks & restaurants meal leftovers; and Nicola left evening snacks & fresh bottled water while we were away. The bathroom is small but has sufficient space for comfortable showering & loo necessities. Hollies Farm leaped to the top of our Most Memorable B&B Stays from Day #1, and it strengthen
