Glendalough International Youth Hostel

Stayed here as part of a cycling group and the facilities are fine. Rooms are basic but clean and relatively spacious. Bedding provided. Breakfast can be pre -booked with good continental and cooked options available at reasonable cost. Facilities for self catering look good also. Improvements needed on the shower system, reported by all members of our group across various rooms. Hopefully this can be improved. Location is good and is convenient to local hotel for dinner and drinks etc as required. Room provided for bike storage however it would be good if this could be locked at night. Basic but would certainly return.

The location is really the only good thing about this hostel. I've stayed in many hostels before, but really never experienced i) that the flush of the only toilet in the 8-bed dorm does not work properly, ii) the water in the shower does not flow out so that you stand in the dirt of other 7 people / cannot even turn it on anymore without flooding the whole place, iii) the bedsheets are not set and the worst, the ones provided have disgusting stains. The price charged is absolutely ridiculous for what you get here.

The staff are reserved but friendly. The bed sheets are dirty and the hostel could do with renovation. The kitchen is a big space which is very useful for cooking. There is chess and connect 4 and a pool table . This is why could be good if you are bored The hostel is beside a hiking trail with plenty of different routes. There is a vending machine but it doesn't work properly which isn't efficient.

Spent a night hear with 2 friends and was very accommodating for our stay, even with us coming back late from being outside. Staff very friendly and easygoing and rooms in th ebest condition I've ever seen of a hostel. The only reason it would fall short of 5 stars was that the breakfast was poor despite costing €7 per person.

mmmm .... very hostel experience....... for an almost hotel price .... Booking was 'difficult' ... not on Hostelworld or any of the other booking sites. I rang and was given an email address. Emailed ... day or two later, received a reply, had to pay 10% deposit. All felt very odd. Not sure if this was because it was December ... or whether this is how it always is ? I booked here, because we wanted to cook - two of our group are vegan. But really, for the price we paid per room ...... we could have stayed at a 'nice' B & B up the road for almost the same price ! I've stayed here once before (and it must have been 'hostel priced'), I now consider it, 'expensive' (for what it is). No towel provided ... but I figured at the price we were paying - we should at least have a towel ... went and got them !!

Myself and my son stayed here as the first night of a two day hiking trip. We got a private toom which was very basic. We were given linen and had to make out own beds which were quiet hard and uncomfortable. We had a en suite bathroom but no soap. We were both woken at 6.15 by the pipes banging as the water started to heat for the day. I would excuse these issues on the basis of it being a hostel but considering how much we were charged I would say its just bad value for money. The following night we stayed at a B&B in glenmalure which was excellent in terms of value for money and comfort. This highlighted how poor the hostels offerings were. Wouldn't stay again.

Localisation parfaite pour faire les randonnées dans le parc national . Mais Mauvais rapport qualité prix : 140€ par nuit pour une très petite chambre pour 2 personnes, avec une salle de bain basique : chasse d'eau ne fonctionne pas sans pomper et température de la douche trop chaude non réglable . Personnel sympa.

Abbiamo soggiornato una notte all'ostello e abbiamo trovato la struttura molto suggestiva, pulita, i letti perfetti e la cucina assolutamente attrezzata per poter cucinare. Noi avevamo fatto una piccola spesa nel pomeriggio, eravamo autonomi per la gestione del cibo. Il personale e'stato molto disponibile. L'ostello e' in posizione perfetta per poter camminare in questo sito storico che alla sera, senza i gruppi diventa ancora più magico, con tanto di avvistamento di ungulati ad una distanza davvero ravvicinata. Simpaticissimi i ragazzi che lavorano all'ostello, dopo cena ci hanno offerto alcune fette di torta al cioccolato.
