Candlewood Suites Reading

This is the 5th year that we have stayed here (we always stay 1 week to 10 days). Employees are generally nice and helpful. However typically we have not had a great response to the problems we have encountered UNTIL this year - wow - we had a few maintenance issues & they were taken care of immediately and professionally and with integrity. We found out that they have a new maintenance man, Manuel. Every hotel should have a Manuel - he was amazing & very conscientious - I was able to speak to him directly & he assured me that everything would be taken care of by the time we came back that evening. I could trust him & that is so important to me. It made all the difference & was so reassuring. I could go on with my day & not worry about it. I wish that every IHG was like that. This was by far the BEST experience I have had in regards to having a maintenance problem resolved.

This is the second time we have stayed here. The rooms are wonderful, the staff always great. This trip they had computer issues and our room keys were deactivated and they kept knocking on the door to see if we were actually there. If not for that they’d have the 5th star

An older property in need of major redo! Furniture very dated. The staff very friendly. Convenient location. Free laundry!! I guess I would stay here again as long as the price (or points) were a bargain. Disappointed that all the Reading outlets are gone!!

To begin, I always prefer Candlewood Suites because of the full kitchen. Because of health reasons, I carry and make my own food. But, this trip was special, because, after driving all day, I became lost in Reading. It was dark. I felt afraid I'd never find it. I knew I was going around in circles, probably because I was so tired. Fortunately, I thought to call the front desk agent. Right away, she realized that I was really tired and frustrated. Kindly and systematically, she talked me through step-by-step how to get here right to the parking lot. I really appreciate Celeste, the Front Desk Agent. Now, I prefer Candlewood Suites not only for the full kitchens, but also, for the fantastic service.

Laundry room was filthy looks like someone took a crap on the floor. the front receptionist was very loud with two guests who were playing loud music and dancing in the lobby. Room smelled like smoke we told the front desk and they said no rooms were available but the parking lot at 11:00 pm had only 8 cars in it.

One star is too high. Place wreaked of ****. Hallway was like walking through a cloud and the room was not any better. There were people yelling in the hallway and stared us down till we got to our room. Windows were left open probably to air it out. We asked to have our room moved since we didnt want to smell **** all night, us or our kids. They moved us to the bottom floor, which smelled a little better, but was right above the entrance to the below ground parking, so every headlight would beam right into the room. Throughout the time, a police officer sat in the parking lot monitoring the area. We decided to leave and not stay. The front desk was unapologetic about everything and told us that the managers do not work on the weekends and call Monday and the manager would take care of the refund. We called Monday and the manager refused to give a refund because they moved us to another terrible room. She was extremely rude and also unapologetic. She said they weren't responsible for any of the complaints we had. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of other hotels in the area that are much better. This place wasnt even much cheaper either but it is a complete waste of money. I honestly have no idea how they have good reviews....

Nous étions allés à cet hôtel à plusieurs reprises jusqu’en 2016 et jusque-là tout était parfait. La semaine dernière nous y avons séjourné pour une durée de 4 jours. « Cauchemar »; je ne sais pas ce qui s’est passé depuis 2016, mais les chambres étaient insalubres. Le soir venu je défais mon lit et j’apperçois des tâches à travers mon drap. Je le retire pour m’apercevoir que le couvre-matelas était tâché un peu partout de sang et d’urine, donc le lit n’avait pas été changé. On appelle à la réception, quelqu’un vient prendre des photos et nous fait changer de chambre. Arrivé dans la deuxième chambre, je remarque que sur le mur à côté de la tête de lit qu’il y avait une coquerelle toujours vivante prise dans une toile d’araignée. Je vais voir dans la salle de bain et le bain n’avait pas été lavé. On nous transfert dans une troisième chambre, mais l’odeur de graisse de patates frites qui y régnait n’avait aucun sens. Les occupants précédents avaient cuisiné des frites. Malheureusement il n’y avait plus rien de disponible et on a dû dormir avec cette odeur. Le lendemain matin la gérante est venue frapper à ma porte pour me dire qu’aussitôt qu’une chambre se libèrerait et que le ménage y serait fait qu’elle viendrait la visiter en ma compagnie. C’était correct, mais le ménage avait été vite fait. J’y ai trouvé un collier de chien à côté d’une chaise, il y avait de l’urine sur le mur de la salle de bain et à voir la quantité de poussière en dessous des lits, c’est certain que ça faisait un bout de temps qu’ils n’avaient pas été tirés. Je trouve ça dommage parce que c’est un bel endroit, le personnel est accueillant, mais c’est terminé pour nous. Après avoir changé de chambre 4 fois, avec photos à l’appui, le seul dédommagement qu’on nous à offert est un montant de 100$ pour les 4 nuits que nous y avons passées, alors que la chambre coûtait $257 US puisque que nous vivons au Canada.
