I'd like to say that I am not someone that takes time to review things generally, but I feel compelled to write about my awful experience. This is billed as a luxury hotel and its not luxury at all. The room and bathroom are fine. Nothing amazing. The bed is not comfortable, and I thought the pillows were the worst. When we checked in there was no info shared on the amenities - maybe because there are none. There is a small gym that no one told us about, but I did see on my way to the spa. I wanted to change my appt at the spa, so I called, NO answer, so I walked there and there was a sign that said they were with clients and for immediate help go to the front desk. I went to the front desk, and they said they have nothing to do with spa and have no access to the bookings. Comical. There is no place to sit. On a beautiful day, one may one to sit outside and read or something and there is no roof deck and no outdoor space except for a chair by the front door. The hotel doesn't have beach chairs or blankets of any sort to lend to take to the park across the street, to the beach, or to the many outdoor concerts. We have been to many lakeside hotels that have these amenities during your stay. I saw a gold cart that may take people places but no one ever told us about it so I have no idea if it was for guests. When I arrived, I was at the tail end of a cold and had a lingering cough. one night I woke up coughing. I decided to go out of my room, so I didn’t disturb my husband and let my cough calm down for a while. I went and sat in the only place I could find on the 1st floor. While coughing and drinking water I was approached by the Night Administrator, Debbie, she asked if I was a guest in the hotel and then told me the chair in which I was sitting was closed. She said she heard my coughing and wanted to tell me the area was closed. I asked if there was another location to sit and she said NO. No concern for wellbeing. No offer of tea or water or cough drops. Just wanted to tell me I couldn’t sit there and read my book quietly while there was latterly no one else around at 3AM. So unbelievably rude! The final straw was check out – a charge of $38 from the restaurant charged to our room. We said that we never went to the restaurant or ordered room service. They said we’d have to talk to the restaurant about it ourselves. SO we waited….. the restaurant manager came and said he’d have to do some research and we could wait. Seriously, we were paying $400 a night, WHY would we want to try and get out of a $38 bill if it was ours. They acted like they were doing us a favor when they finally took it off the bill. There was NO apology, nothing. Just ok, we’ll take it off but not sure how it got there? This is not a luxury hotel, but it IS the only one right in town so I guess they don’t have to worry about working to be a great stay.
