Best Western Walworth Castle Hotel

We have just returned from a two night “minimoon” at Walworth Castle. The hotel is astonishing, built in the 1100’s, it’s steeped in fascinating history. The decor has very carefully been designed to keep the feel of a castle, whilst simultaneously bringing the luxurious feel of a good hotel. We were impressed with the wood features and the beautiful gardens. Our room (32) was just perfect! Ample space, a sofa for watching TV, a beautiful four poster bed, great bathroom and an amazing window! It was up on the top floor and there are no lifts, however there are accessible rooms. The staff really make this hotel stand out! Mary, on the front desk was wonderful. She knew it was our honeymoon and made sure to check we had everything we needed. She even gave us a tour of the dungeons and library tower. We had breakfast, which was very good, my husband enjoying a full English both mornings and myself having porridge on the first and scrambled eggs on the second. There was a fabulous waitress on our first morning, she was so sweet and funny, but I cannot remember her name! All in all, it was perfect. The only thing I’d make a note of, is it is a 900 year old building. As a result, some things look old! The plumbing is doing its best and the decor is being kept up very well. We intend to return for our anniversary next year! Thank you Walworth and thank you to your wonderful staff!

Everything was of a high standard, the room was superb well equipped , very clean and warm, we were with a group and was lucky to be given the jennison suit which is also the honeymoon suit, beautiful bed in the roundtower, huge living room and bathroom, a bonus of a spa bath aswell, the food on both nights was very good, plenty of attentive staff

The staff here are so friendly & enthusiastic they make you feel relaxed & welcome. Well done Ashley for organising your staff so well. We were here for 5 nights with a tour group and during that time the food was fabulous every night. Perfectly cooked, piping hot and very plentiful. Wines are nice but usual hotel prices. Breakfast is another delight - freshly cooked to order. Rooms were comfortable and my only minor moan would be the wacky design of the bathroom in room 9 - the hand basin has a window behind it so the only mirror for shaving is behind the bathroom door. However, this is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in my many many years of hotel stays. If only more hotels could operate with Walworth Castle's level of customer attitude. We would really go out of our way to stay here again.

We have just spent five days here - a large group of us on a rail discovery holiday - the food was amazing and the staff were all so polite efficient and helpful - it’s set in lovely grounds and lovely to walk out after dinner - breakfast was beautiful plenty of choice snd always plenty of it - the far prices were a tad high but that is honestly the only other gripe - it’s a spotless hotel and had such a wonderful time I can’t wait to return

Nice hotel on approach . West Wing is tired and whilst rooms are OK they lack any real charm or such a beautiful building . Fittings showing wear and rooms look dull , very underwhelming . Thats why price is lower than most I guess Can't fault great staff, service and food . It's overall passable but not rave worthy.

We recently held the 40th Anniversary celebrations of our Family History Society at Walworth Castle Hotel. This has been in the planning for two years and I can honestly say that the staff at Walworth have gone above and beyond to help us from day one of contacting them by email to the weekend of the event. In this time we have dealt with three different Event Managers seamlessly and in the final few months also with Unsal the General Manager. I can't recommend this place enough for your event or for overnight stays. The food is amazing, the staff from bottom to top are fantastic and the building is beautiful. Thank you to Unsal and your amazing team for making our weekend event so special!

What a fantastic place, on gorgeous ground with staff that put their all into customer service. Ashley is amazing, listen to her choice of wine! This is the second time we have stayed here and to be honest it will not be the last. We had room 30, which is spacious to say the least. The food is lovely, tasty and filling. Even the prices in the bar are reasonable . Highly recommend

We went for a family birthday on Sunday for lunch. We took our wheelchair bound mother and didn't find it very wheelchair Friendly the car park was gravelled or stoned and we struggled getting through some of the doors. This review is mainly to address wheelchair accessibility.. other than that the food was nice, and no other complaints

Cobwebs in room. Dust in window sill. Z bed not set up in arrival had to ask for it. But the worst experience I’ve ever encountered was the language of a male member of staff whilst we ate in the restaurant. Swearing aggressively as he told a story to his colleagues that was so loud and disgusting that my husband had to go and ask him to please watch his language as we had a 5 year old child with us but even without a child we would of and did feel extremely uncomfortable by this experience. I honestly wanted to get up and leave and would have if I wasn’t with my little boy. My little boy should never have been exposed to language like that and certainly not in a hotel. When we did check out the next day we weren’t asked how our stay was and we were so upset by our experience we just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. Terrible customer service and really disappointing.
