Guest House de la Valette

I’m giving a low rating solely because of the street this hotel is located on. The booking was made through another agency, so we weren’t aware of what to expect. I stayed on the second floor, with windows facing the street, and couldn’t sleep until midnight or later due to loud music and shouting from a nearby bar. By 5 AM, the noise started again with garbage trucks, deliveries, and people preparing to open shops. It’s far from ideal when you have a demanding day ahead. That said, the location is convenient for partying, relaxing, and exploring Valletta, so keep that in mind. On a positive note, the room service was excellent, which helped improve the overall experience slightly.

Great roof top suite. The guest house is on a bustling street with live music most nights. The roof top is on the 5th floor - so the music has lost it's power by then. The suite is spacious with a seating area - and the terrasse is quite large (with a hot tub which we did not use). Lots of light came in - as the full wall to the terrasse was glass. I would not recommend to have the breakfast included - it was a very disappointing experience with lack of food and poor service. We decided to only go the first day, and otherwise get breakfast somewhere else. Also note that the breakfast is a 7-10 min walk away. The low rating is purely due to the poor breakfast.

The good thing about this hotel is the location. And that's about it. When we entered the room it was hot, smelly and dirty. The shower had mold and it was obvious the room has not been cleaned at all. Oh, and the room had no windows. The entrance to the room is located just above a restaurant, which of course provides a lot of noise and fishy smells throughout the whole day and evening. About the room, the bad thing is that the A/C not only is not working, but was even heating up the room! And so was the fridge. It must be some kind of thermodynamic miracle, because this was the first broken down fridge that not only didn't manage to cool anything, but also heated up stuff. Like our drinks for example. Who doesn't love hot beer on a sunny day? I spoke to different receptionists but they all delivered empty promises. The room decor is stylish and cozy, but the dust, dirt and mold kind of made these things void. Of course I have stayed in worse, but not for 100+ euros per night! This place is a scam and the personell just does not care about the guests.

Very noisy. The hotel is located in the middle of a busy street full of restaurants and bars. Eater pressure not good. Smell of fish and meat because of the restaurant located in the ground floor. Breakfast is awful... tbh I was disappointed. The only good thing about this place is the location in the heart of Valetta.

The hotel location is really central, in close proximity to shops, bars and restaurants and walking distance to all the major sites. The room was nicely decorated and check in was quick and easy. The hotel sits above a restaurant which can be noisy so may be worth requesting a room on a higher floor, ours was on the 1st floor and you could hear the kitchen staff. The bed was not very comfortable, the room was too warm and the window overlooked the busy street so was too noisy to open. The hotel does advertise that they have a fridge in the room, this is true but it isn’t cold, it’s more of a cooler.

My King room was comfortable, mostly clean but on arrival there were ANTS in the bathroom. I did not have a window which was ok for me as street would have been noisy. However you can still hear the restaurant's kitchen staff making noise late into the evening. There is no lobby or dining room - breakfast was a paper bag with a croissant, yoghurt, bottle of juice and piece of fruit delivered outside your door at 8am. And you don't get one on your day of departure! Never experienced that before - stayed 3 nights only 2 breakfasts?! The location is good, but Valletta itself is small so you could stay pretty much anywhere in the old town and be close to amenities and sites. Malta and Valletta were wonderful but I would not stay in that hotel again for the same price.
