My 2 night stay at Huy Trung Homestay was wonderful. I arrived in Lao Cai via overnight train and then transferred to bus to Bac Ha. It was market day (Sunday) in Bac Ha - a great place to people watch and marvel at the local produce and goods for sale (everything from plums which were in season to puppy dogs and pots and pans). In the afternoon, my host took me on a half day tour of the valley via motorbike. The scenery was stunning with corn crops and rice fields on sloped terraces. We hiked part of the way back to town. The second day, we headed out for a full day tour of the area. It was incredible to not just see the beauty of the mountains, but to see the people in their homes and fields and to learn more about the tribal people in North Vietnam and their way of life. Incredible! The accommodations were comfortable and clean with excellent bathroom facilities. Meals with the host and his family were excellent!!

Everything about this place is great. We are a family of 4 with two boys at 9 and 12. Room (called lovely) was great and spacious, and we ended up having dinner and breakfast with the family every day which even our vietnase food sceptic son loved. The best thing was all the trips that Huy arranged for us. They were very affordable and took us to some great hidden places of the beaten path. We went on a hike nearby where Huy drove us up the mountain and we walked down, a 10 km loop hike with some breathtaking views and some great offroading and a marked and boat trip. Just book here!

Fantastic homestay! We chose it as it was recommended in the lonely planet guide- we weren’t disappointed! The rooms are immaculate and spacious, hot showers and soft bed linen, excellent wifi. We arrived early after the overnight train to Lao cai, and they accommodated us and allowed us to check in early. The food at night was delicious and fresh. We wished we stayed longer - we had already booked a trekking tour with another company… the homestay can arrange trekking/ sightseeing and we wish we had booked it through them instead. Thanks for a great stay!

I have spent five wonderful days at Huy Trung' homestay and can highly recommend this lovely place for its: - exceptional warm and friendly welcome by Huy Trung and his lovely family - delicious home made food - vegetables from there own garden - super banana pancakes and various fresh fruits for breakfast - very pretty, calm and bright bedrooms On e full day tour with Huy Trung I learned - thanks to his great knowledge - so much about the culture and the everyday life of the different ethnic minorities living in the aria of Bac Ha and of the vietnamese people and culture in general. I left this peaceful place with thankfulness and best memory’s! Therefore: if you go Bac Ha - the Huy Trung homestay is the ultimate place to go!!!!!

We recent stayed overnight at Huy Trung Homestay to visit the Bac Ha weekend markets. The homestay was in a nice quiet hill on the town fringe. Rooms were clean and spacious and you could enjoy the all-around view from the roof top glass bottom deck. Huy and his family were most hospitable as we joined the family for dinner and breakfast. Huy is multi-talented and speaks english. He is a civil engineer, house architectural designer, excellent photographer, drone videographer and also a tour guide around the region. He has also helped build signages to promote the nearby villages around Bac Ha. If we had stayed longer we would also have had him take us on a tour of the area as his local knowledge was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the warm hospitality and would recommend Huy Trung homestay to anyone passing through. We recommend staying longer in Bac Ha as most only use it for day trips to weekend markets. The surrounding countryside, rice terraces and ethnic villages are beautiful to explore.
