Hotel Mondial

we stayed here on family vacation the night were the French won the semi final... sonded like they won the final. Of course it was noise to full night but with closed windows and shutter it was not noise. There is a fan in every room who is very welcome on warm days. The Beds are superb and also the Bathroom is spotless clean. Unfortunaly all rooms are refurbished and we luckyli had a non refurbished. The breakfast was very good with wide choise of Jam, different cheese, and very good bread/croissants etc. Is worth the money. The location of the hotel is very good too, you walk 10Min to the Place the Plumerau, 15 Min to the Cathedral 5Min to the Shopping street. And also the Tram is only 5Min walk away. But to biggest plus of all is the very personal touch you get in this hotel, the owner himself is taking care of you, felt very welcome.

Overall I would say that our stay at the Hotel Mondial was a good experience. My wife and I have just returned from the Loire Valley, where we spent one night in this Tours hotel. The room was great. It had a pleasant, modern decoration, and the bathroom was entirely renovated and very spacious for European standards. The location was also very good. The hotel is on square with several restaurants and stores, and only a couple of blocks away from the pedestrian streets of Tours' historic center. For the negatives, I would say that the several flights of stairs could be a cause of concern. The hotel is vertical, and without elevators. You have to climb up two stories just to get to the reception, and one or two more to get to your room. This could be a concern to some travelers, especially older ones. The biggest caveat of the hotel is the nightclub that's immediately next to it. Tours is a party town, which gives it a great atmosphere. However it's tough to get some sleep with a continuous dance beat from midnight to 5AM. We had read about this in other reviews, but thought it wouldn't be an issue. It was, but I guess it's our fault for not believing it. I would consider staying in the hotel again, but you'd have to weight in the noise issue with the great location of the hotel.

An excellent 3-day stay. Warm welcome, copious and varied breakfast in a beautifully decorated room. A central location on a pretty square, near the lively center of Tours, Place Plumereau for example, close to restaurants and the cultural center. We recommend it.

This place was cold as the North Sea. I can’t get one bit of steam from the shower and had three staff looking at me saying it’s hot. 30 minutes and not steaming going on. It was like getting treated like a child. And they understand my language clearly when selling and upgrading rooms x2 . Both rooms have the same problem. Not agreeing with these prices for 4 people not washing because of cold water

My room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating despite my poor level of French. The hotel is a five-minute walk from many restaurants and cafes, and a half-hour walk from many tourist sites such as the Chateau de Tours, Charlemagne Tower and Saint-Gatien Cathedral.

I have stayed at Hotel Mondial on at least 8 occasions over a period of around 20 years. My latest stay was from Sunday to Thursday in September 2022. In the past I stayed at the hotel when travelling down through France with my young family, with a friend as a base for buying wine in the Loire area and this time with my wife to just enjoy being in the area. The hotel is 2 stars so don't expect luxury. Instead enjoy a wonderfully positioned family hotel right next to the beautiful old town overlooking a picturesque square. The hotel is located in an old building so if you are looking for modernity this is not the place for you. OK so you have to let the water run some time before it becomes hot but once it does it is excellent. The breakfasts are excellent and the staff are very helpful and accommodating, I've never needed to use it but I noticed the room we stayed in had air conditioning. The old town is a buzzy place with lots of students. Sitting in the main square is a real pleasure. As a person in their late 60s it's great to be having a drink with laid back youngsters at adjoining tables. Those with mobility issues need to know there are stairs up to the hotel area. I will return to this lovely unpretentious and friendly hotel.

30 minutes after booking we were contacted by the receptionist stating we need to cancel the booking because there was a water leakage in the reserved room. 2nd option was to pay €50 for a next category room. A free upgrade could not be approved as our booking went via *********** Unacceptable…

L’hôtel est sympa, la literie très bien, l’accueil très bien aussi ! Chambre sous les combles, avec son charme mais un peu dans son jus, quelques taches sur la moquette … équipement dans la chambre ok, débit de la douche assez faible, pas simple avec les cheveux très long. Chambre et hôtel sympa mais trop cher pour la qualité et les équipements.

Si vous souhaitez dormir, passez votre chemin. L'hôtel, très bien situé, est entouré de boîte de nuit. Impossible de fermer l'œil même avec les boule quies fournies... Le boum boum s'arrête vers 6h du matin pile pour l'heure du petit déjeuner.
