The rooms were good and adequately equipped (with beautiful views). However, we felt shortchanged about the food. For the price we paid, we expected a free-flow of juices, coffee, tea, and a variety of meats (for our first non-veg lunch at the resort, they provided us with 4 prawns for 3 people!). Whenever we asked for standard juices / coffee / pepper / dessert, they seemed to be taken aback (altho they did oblige when asked). The Assamese lady working in the dining area did her best to serve us despite her severe language limitations. We understand the philosophy of minimizing food wastage, but in the hospitality industry, it should not come across as being miserly. In an abundant country like India, it was surprising that they were not even serving fruits. Nobody asked us how we’d like our eggs done or bother to discuss the menu for the following day. Perhaps this was due to staff shortage, but the proprietors should know that these are basic expectations at their price point. As there was often a lack or absence of staff presence, we had to send WhatsApp messages to the owners (for eg, requesting ice). Such messages often received delayed responses—or no response at all. If the resort operates based on specific health-related diet philosophies (e.g., limiting coffee or sugar for health reasons), that should be clearly communicated upfront so that there is no mismatch in terms of guest expectations. At one point, we even contemplated (and did) order food / drinks from the outside. Lastly, the proprietors could have been more proactive in dealing with their guests. We were never asked or briefed about options in terms of activities (even though their website promised much). While we may have opted out of any such activities, it would have been good to at least be informed of our options or told if certain activities were unavailable. On the whole, we did not get our money's worth, and in that sense, it was expensive. Hope this resort improves its guest experience. It really has the potential to be much more.
