Great Trails Riverview Thanjavur by GRT Hotels

We visited this property after being there 20 years ago. Still a fab property. Staff exceptional. Place requires a lot of repairs and I am sure they are on to it. The only thing we were very upset was - about our drivers accommodation and food. A GRT run property DOES NOT provide food or not even a cup of tea. The accommodation provided had serious issues with mosquitos so our driver slept in the car. The location of the property was away from shops and other accommodation so to have a cup of coffee our driver had to drive a fair distance. I escalated this to the management mid way of our stay - of course the answer was we will do it sir - but absolutely nothing happened. We plan to be back again as we like the place. But if this is not improved we will reluctantly look for alternatives.

We had a lovely spacious room with a huge balcony overlooking the gardens and river. Beds were exceptionally comfortable. Fabulous bathroom with bath, shower, and bidet. What really let this hotel down was the staff who were abrupt and uninterested ( with the exception of two who were lovely). We were, however, impressed with Management who took on board all our complaints, and we noted a marked change in staff's attentiveness. Unfortunately we did not have a good meal in the restaurant. Food arrived cold, and part was inedible. At breakfast, food was not covered...bread and watermelon slices covered in flies. This is not what we would expect from a 5 star rated hotel. Such a disappointment as location was lovely.

We, a family of three visited this small little gem of a place in the month of October. Having travelled a lot, for leisure and tourism, I think we can safely say that this place is a hidden gem in the quint little town of Thanjavur. Starting from the reception, the support staff, the chef, the House keeping staff all were ready to take the extra step to make our stay much more comfortable. We selected the River View Edge Heritage Room, and the room was not only spacious but was spotless clean. Their newer rooms, the river view rooms with the verandha, are also spacious and comfortable for a family of three. They have a well equipped small kids playroom with facilties such as Fusball, Cricket, Carrom, Chess, Table Tennis. The pool offers a relaxing break after a day long outing. The ambience in the sit out area is very quaint and peaceful. The lawn area is very well maintained and the whole property, embraces you in a kind of warm hospitalty and ambience, which leaves one spellbound and wanting to stay for one more day.
