Mountain Lodge Telluride

We just checked in to the hotel and had to change rooms twice. Huge wet area in front of the fireplace(not sure the substance), clogged sink, broken kitchen cabinet door, ceiling fan upstairs doesn't work, broken dresser, bed in very bad shape, missing slats in a closet door, broken lamp that we had to use a hand towel to unscrew the light bulb, missing tile in the hallway ceiling, no air conditioner which is needed for the upstairs room (nothing on the website says there isn't an a/c...especially when the description on the hotel website says "mountain modern"). We usually stay at the Fairmont and decided to try a new place that had great reviews. We are sorely disappointed and relieved we are only staying here one night. The woman working the front desk was rude and had a horrible attitude. When we checked out I was told the manager would be in touch with me. It has been 2 days and I never heard from management. Do not stay here if you have other options.

My first warning should have been when the hotel called to ask why we had cancelled and rebooked (our agent had done so), and essentially berated me. When we pulled up to the hotel, no one was out front to assist or direct us. When the bellhop finally did appear, he basically stared at us and the car confused, as if he didn’t understand how he ended up there or what hospital job was. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a nice kitchen. But it had a view of bushes, and nothing else was available. And we didn’t have the cheapest room by a stretch. The cable didn’t work, we had to call several times to get it addressed, and a closet door was broken. I also did not like the valet parking situation, though the hotel kindly comped us that because of the other issues we mentioned. We ate on night at the restaurant- food ok, but place was deserted. Helpful concierge- gave us great hiking advice.

Our stay at Mountain Lodge Telluride's one-bedroom suite was absolutely wonderful! The views from our room and balcony took our breath away. It was just as stunning as the promotional website photos. The living room was super comfortable and could seat 5 people easily, plus two balcony chairs. The fireplace was cozy and able to be used one of the cooler nights of our stay. The kitchen has everything anyone could ever want. The bedroom was small but absolutely adequate. There were nice touches like a fan, heater, and humidifier in the room. Everything was clean and we felt right at home. We went in October, but the weather was unseasonably warm while we were there. However, even without air conditioning we were able to cool the room down nicely before sleeping at night just by opening the balcony doors and a few windows and directing a fan to get some air flow for a little while. Even after closing the doors and windows, we kept the fan going to help mask noises from the hallway and nearby rooms, and it worked well. The property is planning a renovation of the jetted bathtubs soon, which is needed since the finish was coming off our tub, but for use as a shower it was just fine. Gondola access was a great treat. The first day we asked for a ride uphill to the gondola station, but after that we walked each time. It was a pretty walk and not too hard or too far. Nearly everywhere we wanted to go could be reached from the gondolas. While this hotel is located at Mountain Village above Telluride, it was so fun to just take a free gondola ride down into Telluride for dinner or shopping. The $35 valet parking seemed high but made sense once we were there. I'm glad it's not added into the room rate so that people without vehicles don't have to pay it. Parking is truly a challenge there. What we appreciated was the gracious help from the parking attendants both at check-in and checkout. They brought the car right outside our building when we checked out to make it easy for us, and delivered the key directly to our room. Sadly, we did not plan ahead to get reservations at the hotel restaurant and were unable to eat there because of group bookings. We did not use the pool or hot tub either. But we were not disappointed with our stay there and would not hesitate to return in the future.

We came from Tennessee on our honeymoon and spent two nights at the lodge. It was amazing! Beautiful views, great restaurant and pool, and most of all, the staff was very helpful and made us feel at home. Extra shout out to Amber at the front desk for going to extra mile for us! We can’t wait to come back and wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else on the mountain!

This hotel obviously has a lot of potential but needs some serious updating. For the price of the room, I was very disappointed to say the least, I have stayed in 2 star motels that were better taken care of. Our room had a constantly running shower/tub faucet and the tub was scratched up and in need of replacement. It didn’t drain well and I ended up standing in 3 inches of water while taking a shower. Also beware if you are sensitive to chemical smells, when I walked in the room, the deodorizer/cleaner was so strong it made my throat hurt. I also found a random men’s jacket in the closet and the room in general was just not all that clean, especially the bathroom. I would spend my money somewhere else! I notified the front desk when I left, and they took notes to address some of the issues.

This is the second summer that my husband and I have visited Mountain Lodge together. We adore the peaceful location and the proximity to Telluride via the gondola. We thought we could not improve upon the room we had last year, but Amber outdid herself this year. We were disappointed initially upon check-in that our room faced the parking lot, and we inquired whether we might be moved to a different room. Initially, Amber told us that the property was full. However, she managed to find a room for us on the top floor with a magnificent view of the mountains and the constant sound of the creek bubbling beneath our balcony. Words cannot describe how difficult it is to leave this place at the end of our stay, but we take comfort in the knowledge that we can return next year. I had such a positive experience staying at Mountain Lodge in Telluride for their closing ski weekend! We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite, with a full kitchen, the coziest fireplace and balcony overlooking the mountains. Ski in / Ski out doesn't get much better than this. Every morning, we grabbed our skis and walked 10 steps from the hotel to the mountain and when we were finished for the day, we'd ski right back to the front steps. The location is great. It's about a 6 minute walk to the heart of Mountain Village (there's also a free shuttle), with the gondola that takes you right into Telluride town. The staff was incredibly helpful, shoutout to Sam Barnes and concierge who helped us map out the mountain and get settled!

The front desk staff is unhelpful and rude. They do not explain everything. Shuttle service is spotty—taking up to 20 minutes wait for a short drive. Housekeeping was late afternoon. Room is dirty. This property is very overpriced for what you get. Bell staff is slow to respond.

We just got back from a week vacation at Mountain Lodge Telluride and we were absolutely blown away. The convenience of ski in ski out was incredible as well as the endless views of the San Juan mountains and close location to the Village and Village market. After skiing all day soaking in the hot tubs was absolutely perfect. I can’t thank Michelle Noyes enough for helping us book this trip, which was without question the greatest trip our Family has ever been on, we will be back next year for sure.
