The Victorian Inn

The staff were mostly wonderful from check-in to check out, this includes the front desk, cleaning staff, restaurant staff. The hotel is older but the cleaning staff did a great job of keeping it spotless. We only had one meal in the restaurant but we all enjoyed what we ordered and the gentleman who assisted us was great The location is PERFECT. They were very welcoming to my 2 grand dogs. I wish I remembered the names of the 2 young ladies working when we checked in, they were fabulous! The only negatives are: I paid for 2 Mountain View rooms and only one was really what I paid for. You can’t really sit on the patio because the heat coming from the air conditioner blows right on you and is hot.

The room was lovely, well appointed with 3 windows overlooking the mountain with views. Spotlessly clean. It was on the top floor, very close to Main Street half block away. We managed to get a parking place just behind the hotel. There is a microwave and fridge, TV, coffee in the room. The room was warm as it was a very cold day/ night. Check in not until 4 pm, when we arrived at 12 the clerk said she would have the room available at 2pm. It was. Staff friendly. Only gripe, you have to get your breakfast from reception area and take it back to the room on a tray. As we were furthest away, sausages were getting cold by the time we returned to room

The place was clean, the people were very nice. Very small room with small bathroom. No iron or ironing board, No microwave, had small refrigerator. Parking is very limited. I felt like we were in a basement. I felt this room was very overpriced for what we got. $423.00

The couple in front of me who had just shown up got a cheaper rate than I did even though I booked months in advance. The desk clerk wasn’t even apologetic. I was told “that’s just how the system works.” It is a great location but the room was “dated” to say the least.

Beautiful inn at a quiet and peaceful location. Would definitely stay again. Pretty vista with clean mountain air refreshing and inviting. Quaint and kind. Made for memories this place is the quintessential picturesque mountain town. Wishing to make it a permanent residence after such an endearing visit.

The Victorian Inn has a good location as far as being in walking distance to everything in Telluride! We hiked the Bear Creek Trail on the first evening after flying in! The next morning we hiked to Bridal Veil falls and hiked from our room, added a few miles to the hike and the trail along the river was just so beautiful and easy before we got to the Bridal Veil Falls Hike! The Gondola is SO close to the inn, so you can ride right on up the mountain in a jiff. Also there is a market/grocery store just a few blocks down, as well as plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, and shops. The breakfast was very good, and set up by 7:30 - oatmeal, fruit, pastries, coffee, boiled eggs, sausage - just a good hikers breakfast in my opinion. The staff we dealt with was super nice, and very helpful - we couldn't get our TV to work and the lady at the front desk (I can't remember her name, but she was so nice) just popped right up and asked if we would be okay for her to come to our room to fix it. Housekeeping was great, the room was clean and had been cleaned before we got back from hiking each day. My only advice is this: ASK for a room upstairs. Our room was just next to the small courtyard, hot-tub, and grill. There is no air conditioning in this inn which wasn't an issue for us EXCEPT for the fact that you have to have your windows open and every evening - someone was RIGHT outside our room hanging out. I don't blame them the little courtyard was perfect to hang out in, it just completely took away any peace and privacy for us. ALSO...the stairs are metal, and I understand the necessity for this in the winter - but if you book a lower room there will be no sleeping in. You can hear every single step not only on the metal stairs which people lug up and down, but also in the room above too. So...for us we were up by 6am every morning (which wasn't a huge issue for us because we wanted to go hike anyhow, but there was ZERO chance of sleeping in when we wanted to). If I had to do it again, I would ask for the second story/upstairs rooms and I would pay for the most private/secluded room I could find!

Very poor follow-up service I had issues with my room, and the manager was completely stubborn to resolve my complaint. The rooms are very noisy because the deck is right outside your door and because there’s no airflow you have to leave your windows open and then you hear everybody walking right next to your room.

The GOOD: Location. The Inn is block off of Main St and a block from the Gondola. An easy walk to all the shops and restaurants. Availability. When trying to book last minute, it typically is available. The OK: Price. For Telluride, which is notoriously expensive and has insufficient lodging options, the price is reasonable. Staff. No rude but not really friendly. Bed. The bed was OK. Not horrible but not very comfortable either. The BAD: Breakfast. There is a free morning breakfast. However, it is quite minimal and basic. Room. The room is literally a dormitory with painted white stone walls. It’s not the end of the world but with what I paid, I expected more. A/C. There is none. The summer can get hot during the day. They do provide a small oscillating fan Parking. There is a few limited parking slots in the back alley….. otherwise you have to park on the street. Bathroom. Very basic and minimalistic. At least it was clean

Telluride is expensive. In looking for a place to stay, I had a severe case of ‘sticker shock’. I got over it (a bit) as I saw that everywhere was expensive. We selected the Victorian Inn. A good choice. First, it is right downtown (a block off the main street) and has a bit of parking (once we got a parking place, we were afraid to drive anywhere for fear of losing our parking space). It’s a nice room that’s well maintained. There’s the usual stuff – queen bed, two bed tables, a dresser with a mini-fridge next to it, a small table with two chairs (handy for eating our breakfast on) a coffee maker. The bed has an interesting headboard. Rather small. They do have a breakfast (kind of). The lobby is rather small. Off to one side there is a small counter with food. Cereal, yogurt, sausage links, some fruit, OJ and coffee. There is no place to eat in the lobby so there are small trays to take stuff back to the room to eat. Anywhere else this would be more of a budget lodging. Not so much in Telluride. Generally, this has been a good choice.
