Casa Flora is a complete little two room apartment just off Taos Plaza and close to everything Taos offers.Enter through a brick courtyard lined with summer blooming flowers and outdoor seating area for an evening glass of wine or a morning cup of coffee.Casa Flora has a living room/kitchen which is comfortable and inviting. The kitchen is well equipped for at home dining and can seat four. The living room sofa is a new queen sofa bed with gel foam mattress for two additional guests or children. Additional $25 per person per night which may be left at departure. The room is heated with a gas log stove and the skylight offers wonderful Taos light.The bedroom features a queen bed with premium bedding, good reading lights, cozy robes, and charming gas log stove with a decorative tile surround. Only operate gas log stoves from wall thermostats. NEVER turn off main gas line.The bath has a tiled shower and plenty of towels and bath supplies. Leave your hair dryer at home since I provide one.Casa Flora is located in an adobe building built in the 1880's and has wooden floors, hand hewn beamed viga ceilings and many multi paned operable windows. 14' thick adobe walls assure winter warmth and summer coolness. All windows are screened with perfect privacy and security. There is a ceiling fan in the kitchen and another in the bedroom. I also a provide 2 swamp coolers in case you are staying during our (luckily short) summer heat spells.Casa Flora is furnished with antiques, original Taos art from some of our exceptional artists and my sense of whimsy throughout.As with all of my properties I am dog friendly. This apartment is right downtown and convenient to everything Taos has to offer including restaurants, shops, galleries and museums. For five years this was my popular shop Red Cat Melissiana. One day I realized my passion was Vacation Rentals (I have 11) and not retail so it was time to re invent myself once again... Red Cat Melissiana Apartment is located in an 1880's building with all the charm of old Taos and so much history. Originally this was a street with small homes and shops across the street from the Plaza and the original Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. This street was once the Red Light District of Taos with a network of underground tunnels leading to interesting destinations and all kinds of varied stories. There are many spirit activity reports for juicy stories to share. Just ask me...This apartment is now a newly re furbished space decorated with my antiques, original art and sense of whimsy throughout. It's everything you could want on your vacation for 1-4 guests and so very 'Taos'. Built in the 1880's, the building has many wooden vigas (ceiling beams), creaky old wood floors, 14" walls and many windows.The living room has a queen sofa sleeper with a gel foam mattress and sleeps an additional two guests with bedding stored in antique trunk/coffee table. ($25 per person per night) There is a big flat screen TV if TV is something you want on your vacation. It's located in a one of a kind cupboard in the living room behind closed doors. I also have a record player and albums for that retro feel.The bedroom features a queen bed with high end bedding and a decorative quilt. There is a trastero/armoire for your clothing and just leave your robes at home since there are two just waiting for your cozy moments here.The kitchen features an eclectic tiled counter, vintage cooktop, sink and refrigerator combo. It is well equipped and offers all amenities for any cooking at home. Table for two-four and extra chairs if you need them.The bathroom features a fully tiled corner shower and a sink set in an antique Mexican cabinet. There are lots of towels and any supplies you might need.Winter heat is provided by two stoves. One gas and one electric. Operate gas log stove only by the wall thermostat. NEVER turn off main gas line. For summer there are ceiling fans and a swamp cooler, but the 14" thick walls keep this space comfortable year round.If you visit in spring, summer or fall you can enjoy 'Melissa's Secret Garden' a private little private oasis under a box elder tree surrounded by container plants, a wall fountain, outdoor lighting and lots of assemblage garden art. I am also offer a BBQ grill and string lights so my guests can enjoy this outdoor space.My style of decor is Melissiana Eclectic. What is this? it's a mix and match style with antiques,yard sale and consignment treasures, original art and more--always fun things for my guests to discover, appreciate and enjoy.This downtown historic building actually has three private apartments and is perfect for single travelers and couples or combine the three and bring a bigger group of friends and families. This newly remodeled three bedroom home has it all! Tiled kitchen with new appliances is well equipped and supplied for cooking at home. I always like to say if I don't have it, you won't need it! There is a separate dining room with mountain views. The living room is large-nicely furnished and comfortable. There is a fireplace and plenty of fragrant cedar firewood provided. There are three bedrooms. Front bedroom has a queen, middle bedroom has a double and the master bedroom has a king. Each bedroom has closet space and a dresser . I provide two cozy robes in each bedroom too for lazy mornings or comfy evenings. There are two tiled full baths with soaps, shampoo/conditioner and hair dryer provided.This home was totally remodeled in early 2016. It was quite an undertaking! All walls and kitchen cabinets were painted a warm cream. All new operable screened windows and stained trim. Tongue and groove ceilings (I stained 1300 feet of tongue and groove. Whew!) New trim tile in the blue bathroom and completely new mango bathroom.Then the fun part, the furnishing and decorating! I furnish with my antiques and treasures from local consignment stores and estate sales. All my bedding and towels are from my favorite Company Store catalogue so all bright colors and high quality. I love original Taos art so you will find it in every room. I have a penchant for whimsy and it's here and there. I am often asked about my decorating style- I call it "Melissiana". Actually my plumber said it best when he said, "Nothing you do makes any sense, but when you are done, it all works!"This home is located on a quiet one block dead end street. The only sounds you hear are birds, wind chimes and the church bells from Our Lady of Guadalupe a block away. There is private on site parking. A walled courtyard with big trees, lilacs offer outdoor living spaces for two and four legged guests. I was a professional landscaper in California before I moved to Taos and it is still my passion. In ground flowering plants as well as boxes decorated by me and big ceramic pots full of color are everywhere. There are two outdoor living areas in front. To the left of the front gate there is a vintage glider and to the right a table and six comfortable chairs as well as a large BBQ grill. There is an additional outdoor living area off the master bedroom in the back.As with all ten of my properties Casa Grande is pet friendly.This home is actually part of a fourplex compound. I live in one of the little casitas so am always available to answer any questions. There are also two additional casitas that I rent for short term visits. Casa azul (Vrbo 797997) And Casa Verde (Vrbo 920144). Each have living/dining, tiled baths and queen bedrooms. Each also have private walled courtyards. Often guests rent the compound for large groups. I can sleep up to ten guests on this property..There is a central laundry room available for all my guests and on site parking.Casa Grande is located on a quiet, one block dead end street and is only three blocks from Taos Plaza.This downtown compound was featured on the 2017 Taos Home & Garden Tour where on a Saturday in August 500 tour goers had a chance to check out my style.
