I was visiting my daughter who works in Suzu and was pleasantly surprise by staying at the Ryokan. It is centrally located in the town, within walking distance to Suzunari (main bus stop/gift shop) and all eating places and grocery stores. The head mistress speaks very little English but treats her guest very well. I had to book an extra night and although trip.com said it had no reservation, I was able to communicate with her and got a room for the extra night I needed.
Another thing is the common bath. If you like Onsen, they do have a separate bath for men and women to shower and soak in a hot bath. I enjoy the Onsen and was lucky to have that available to me. If you want a private bath, there may be a couple of rooms that have it but the rest of the rooms share the shower and bathrooms, like a dorm.
If you get the added breakfast, bring your appetite. It is a nice full meal and full of local dishes and fishes. I had a different fish every day of my stay (4 different ones) and it was all delicious. I would stay here again if my daughter is still working in town.
