One of the worst hotel experiences I have had. We arrived at the hotel around 5 pm on a Saturday after a long drive through the mountains in heavy rain and wind.. Shortly after checking in a church group set up a pop up meal station in the parking lot right outside our door, complete with loud music and repeated announcements over a loudspeaker. It was so loud we could not hear the TV in our room. When I asked them to turn down the music, I was told it was "Christian music" as a justification. When my wife and another guest went to complain at the office, they were told that the group was there by agreement with the owner/manager and there was nothing he could do. He also said the lobby was closing at 6 pm and there would be no access to water or coffee until the next morning. I also discovered that the ice machine was turned off and was controlled by reception, which was closed. After about 2 hours, the church group packed up and left, but the evening and our stay had been ruined by that time. It is inexcusable and unconscionable that the operator of a hotel would have such disregard and lack of consideration for paying customers. The whole purpose of a hotel is to provide a comfortable and restful place for travelers. In this regard, the Stockton Red Roof Inn failed miserably.
