Cobblers Cove

We recently stayed at Cobbler’s Cove and are returning visitors to the island. Manager Joanna greeted us on arrival and we were offered cold towels and a lovely rum punch, which was lovely. The suites are generously large, well equipped and well proportioned. The entire place was meticulously clean and tidy, and it was evident that all staff take a lot of pride in the hotel and gardens also. After booking we were a little concerned over some poor reviews for such a premium hotel, but happy to report that there was no need to worry. The laid back relaxed vibe was exactly what we’d hoped for, food and service was excellent, except there were some ‘hiccups’ at breakfast over service, which were quickly resolved and we laughed off being on holiday and Bajan time anyway. There were some particularly helpful staff worth noting, some were great fun to be around too. Special thanks to Gregory, AJ, Pearson, Virgil, Rawle & Ricky. Swimming pool was nice but a little small, but to be honest we spent most days swimming / snorkelling in the sea, including swimming with the local turtles 🐢 neat the breakwater just off the beach. Complimentary afternoon tea was also very popular in the pavilion. Also complimentary was 30mins speedboat ride daily, which needs to be booked in advance and we used to also access other local beaches for a change. Some guests do seem to reserve sunbeds with towels fairly early mornings, but that said, this was not regularly abused and we always found a sunbed with ease when we wanted to The gardens are beautiful and well tended, You also have a wide array of wildlife in these gardens, from hummingbirds, land crabs, mongoose and a troup of green monkeys. Cocktails were really lovely (and also potent, so be warned, particularly the notorious “cobblers cooler”, with added giggles included. The location is absolutely stunning and fabulous, and only a short walk into Speightstown along the beach. We absolutely loved our stay which thoroughly recharged our batteries. A nice touch was the mosquito repellent and plug-in device for mosquitoes in the rooms, but the time of year we went these were not really any issue. The hotel is an absolute gem and a credit to the efforts of Joanna and her whole team.

Small suites with air-conditioned bedrooms. Beautiful tropical gardens with copious loungers, restaurant, and swimming pool adjacent to the beach. Small reefs full of life are accessible for snorkeling directly from the hotel. Kayaks are available from the hotel

I have just returned from a 10 night stay at this hotel. We received a warm welcome upon arrival and shown to our suite. This was spacious, very attractive, plenty of wardrobespace with a large double bed. The kitchen area was useful and always good to be able to have access to a fridge and tea/coffee. The down side for us was this room was very close to the main road and the traffic noise started at 5.30am each morning - try and avoid if you can. The hotel has very beautiful and well maintained gardens. The pool area is small and you can struggle to get a sun bed. I was told towels were hogging some sunbeds from 5.30am! However once you get your sunbed you really are very close to the sea. There is access each side to the beach but no sunbeds on beach. The public spaces of bar, lounge and restaurant are situated by the pool area. Afternoon tea which is a lovely touch happens between 4 and 5pm daily in the lounge area. The bar was great early evening with happy hour and fellow guests were very sociable while we were there. Breakfast was a small buffet, fruit available was mainly different melon - and possibly either papaya or pineapple. There is also a cooked breakfast menu but a number of dishes would be off the menu each day. The most frustrating thing was the hit or miss service, we would regulary be waiting 20-30 minutes for teas/coffee along with cooked food. On a few occasions we tried the lunches and dinner. Sadly once again the service was inconsistant and the food was not good/unappetising and very expensive. A Ceasar salad consisted of shredded lettuce, a few acnchovies and sliced chicken. t Many guests agreed that the F&B department was the weakest part of the hotel and needs attention. Very often the there could be 3-4 staff beind the bar chatting ignoring guests waiing for service. The hotel is well maintained and very clean throughout.

Just spent 8 nights at this beautiful hotel, mostly everything was great, room was spotless and well equipped, nice to have so many coat hangers, bed was super comfy. Plenty of comfortable sun loungers. Just a couple of niggles, breakfast was a challenge, poor selection on buffet, menu was ok but not everything available and service not great, states on website no shorts for men in evening but even though I asked on bbq nite and reception still said long trousers only, most gents were in shorts so is it a rule or not?? Also says Adult only apart from festive season but a couple of babies there although they weren’t a problem but not the point really. Overall a lovely stay and would return .

I was looking forward to stay in this hotel, since it looked beautiful and elegant from the photos and had some great reviews as well. When we arrived my excitement was quickly changed in a disappointment. Our taxi driver that picked us up was a lovely local young lady, that worked with the hotel and she kind of warn us about the hotel prior dropping us off. We were greeted by very unfriendly customer service at the front desk and went to have lunch to wait till our room was ready. The food was actually pretty tasty and fresh, unfortunately the restaurant stuff was one of the most unfriendly and arrogant kind of employees I ever met in a high end establishment. They were acting as if they were doing us a favor by serving us, did not smile and looked very unhappy and uneasy. I’m pretty sure that it’s the management that is probably not training and treating their employees properly and it reflects on their attitude. The whole ambiance of this place was like staying in some old british country club, or nursing home not a tropical island destination Nobody informed us about any activities, spa services, water sports or anything. There was no music playing anywhere and it just felt so dull and boring. Grounds are rather small and it feels crowded, there is not much to see or do. One small pool for many people, I haven’t even used it. The room was nice, kind of outdated, but comfortable, beds and linen was good quality. Nice gardens, decent beach. Snorkeling was not spectacular either, death coral, some fish. Dinner was okay, not a big selection, but tasty. There was a dress code for men and woman, so please don’t forget to bring your trousers and tie to sit by the beach in a tropical heat to have your dinner served by team of sad people on a pink suit with a bow. The only nice thing about this hotel was the historic look and semi nice decor. Will never come back or recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s definitely overpriced, unprofessionally managed establishment. There are many more places to choose from in the area.

We had a two week family (age 10 & two older teenagers) holiday at Cobblers Cove and couldn't recommend it more highly. Everything from our greeting upon arrival, (including correspondence prior to arrival), clean beautiful bedrooms, lovely food, great location, exceptionally beautiful gardens and most importantly ALL the staff are friendly and helpful. All the facilities are great and everything is in good condition and well maintained. We arranged a sailing cruise and deep sea fishing trip with reception which was quick and easy. My husband and son caught a huge King Fish and tentatively took it to the kitchen asking if the chef could cook it. Oh my goodness, he put in so much effort, marinading it all afternoon and preparing an amazing meal for us. The usual watersports are available and I was impressed with the guys working there, very attentive and professional and actually keeping their eye on people out on the water. It's a lovely cosy hotel, not too big not too small, felt very luxurious and relaxing but enough for the kids to entertain themselves with, although to be honest being able to swim with so many fish and turtles right on the beach was enough. The best place we have stayed in Barbados so far so conflicted as don't want it to get too difficult for me to book again!!!! So go somewhere else everyone please :-)
