Willowbank Resort

The staff was excellent, but other than that I didn’t enjoy my stay here. The rooms need serious updating and the housekeeping could be better. The views of the ocean were relaxing, but there is no beach as advertised. There’s a patch of sand to admire the ocean. If you want the beach, you need a taxi to go to Horseshoe Bay Beach.

We booked the hotel last minute because we needed one night to stay before we got on a cruise. We didn’t even look at reviews but we were pleasantly surprised! The rooms are remodeled, clean, air conditioned and beautiful. The bed was super comfortable. Beach towels included in the room. The restaurant was AMAZING! All the food we ordered was delicious. The ocean beach is small and private, no waves, and a nice sand bar makes it easy to walk out into the water a long way. Also all the employees are fantastic. Kind, helpful, and very friendly! This is a hidden gem in Bermuda and we would definitely stay here again. Thanks Willowbank for a wonderful stay!

My husband and I stayed at Willowbank for the Fourth of July weekend. Things got rocky for us right from the start. We booked an ocean-view room and it was not available when we got there. The manager put us in a pool-view room and gave us a $50 credit towards food and drinks at the on-site restaurant. The pool-view room was tiny, had non-existent water pressure in the shower, and the price difference between the two rooms was far more than $50. We were not adequately compensated for the inconvenience. We had to stay there the first night and my husband ended up having to make multiple trips to the front desk on Day 2 for them to finally get the room we paid for available. There was poor communication amongst staff which made a few reasonable things we requested either delayed or denied. We will definitely be back to Bermuda, but not this resort. Here are the pros and cons of Willowbank: Pros -Beautiful views -There are two beaches on the resort and most days my husband and I had the beach closet to our room to ourselves. -It's very, VERY quiet. If you want a chill vacation, this is your spot. -There are two bus stops very close to the resort and the buses are clean and safe. WIllowbank is far from everything, so you'll need transportation to go anywhere. -The security guards were helpful and resourceful. Cons -As noted above, Willowbank is far from everything, so if you don't want to take a bus somewhere, your only option is to take an expensive taxi (and even with that, you have to tell the front desk an hour before you need your taxi). -Bermuda is a pricey place in general and Willowbank's on-site restaurant is no exception. On top of that, the food is not great. -Poor management. Because of a lack of record-keeping and communication, we had to repeat our simple requests (Is our room available?, Is the taxi on the way? etc) multiple times to multiple staffers. Willowbank could use an organizational audit to streamline these basic functions.

Willowbank has 2 beautiful beaches! Our room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. Great location and can watch the sunsets ! The restaurant has excellent food ! Has easy access to bus transportation . Can’t beat the views and hospitality !

A group of five of us enjoyed afternoon tea at Willowbank...upon arrival we were promptly shown to our table in a bright and comfortable tea room. The table was set for tea with vintage cups and saucers and tea things. Each table had a centerpiece of a vintage teapot. The room had a single large window overlooking the property's pool and a buffet table was set with an assortment of tea sandwiches, savories, pastries, scones, and sweets. We made our way to the buffet and experienced a leisurely tea experience not unlike what we know from visits to Great Britain and Ireland. I loved the open-faced cucumber sandwiches, the two kinds of scones complete with clotted cream and strawberry preserves, and the Petit Fours, Macaroons, and Tarts. The variety and quality of offerings was state-of-the-art and was much enjoyed. Our staff host was delightful, solicitous, and professional. He gave us a tour of the property immediately after our tea...the facility is located on Ely's Harbor in Sandy's Parish and is a place to relax and refresh in a tranquil atmosphere. The resort is complete with small simple bungalows, a restaurant, and a chapel for rest and reflection. We very much enjoyed our visit and will plan to return. Enjoy!

This resort is blessed! The peace you find here can only be experienced. From all the staff who are kind and friendly. To the rooms which are wonderfully situated and maintained. Breakfast was yummy and all pastries where made fresh. It was the perfect place to come back to after a long day of sightseeing or diving with Blue Water Divers. We are hoping to visit again in a year or so and bring our friends to experience Bermuda and Willowbank Resort. Thank you to everyone who made our trip so memorable!

It is a nice property with a stunning view on the Ocean but you have to be aware that: - There are 2 beaches, one very nice but small (can host 7-8 people) and when there is high tide it disapper. The other one is bigger but it is inside a Marina with a lot of boats in front of you. It should be a private beach (there is a board on the beach mentioning it), but it is not. People from the houses closeby come there and also big groups from cruises come to make canoa or boat trips. Really not acceptable. The beach was cleaned only once in one week and it is not managed at all. You end up looking for better beaches outside . - The resturant is in a stunning position but it looks like that the staff is not properly trained. They are kind but they miss the basics. (Guests like to eat on the terrace outside and they only prepare tables inside, asking people to bring themeselves food outside). Tables wet from the previous night rain are not cleaned if not asked. On Sunday evening they had a private birthday party (external guests) and they didn't have enough staff to handle the resort guests who were offered only salads & cold sandwiches or suggested us to order from an external take away !!. On Sunday evening public bus do not work in the Island so we couldn't even go eating outside. - The rooms are nice and comfortable. The service is so and so. The cleaning staff everyday was forgetting something: we were 3 people and were leaving towels for 2, forgetting to leave beach towels or shower gel regularly. All in all is a nice place, that needs a bit of renovation, but the management is definitely poor.

I had stayed at Willowbank in 1969 as a teenager and wanted to take my wife there at some point, and so it was my first choice for celebrating our 50th anniversary. I was thrilled that it was still there after all those years and it hadn't lost it's charm. In fact it has grown and provides a lot for anyone: couples, family, groups, etc. It is also a conference centre as well, and does weddings and other events. A hurricane had come by a few weeks or so earlier (but no damage as it only slightly grazed the island) and so the number of visitors was down from usual so we felt like it was a very special, quiet place for us to enjoy. Comparatively, Bermuda is an expensive place to visit (and live) but we felt it was well worth the price. Since the number of guests was down they automatically upgraded our accommodations to one of the nicest ones available and we loved it. The ocean and sunset views straight out of our unit were simply spectacular. The food was excellent in their restaurant/dining room. They have their own beautiful beach in the cove and we enjoyed many lovely quiet hours there. Among all of the beauties and amenities perhaps the most striking aspect of Willowbank is the management and staff. What wonderful people. I can't say enough about how nice they all are! Bermudians are warm lovely people and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Willowbank and on the island.

Stayed for a conference and really enjoyed the entire hotel. Food was great, the conference centre is amazing and the beach is really nice too. Loved the cosy feeling of not being in a large place. The gym is a huge plus and barely anyone using so was perfect to use anytime we wanted. Only thing I hope they change in future is to maybe have a queen bed and a double instead of 2 double beds. I highly recommend this hotel for the price. Nothing will beat this in Bermuda. They also had shuttles to Dockyard and the beach.
