We enjoyed being right in the central historical center of Siena for a few days. The car service was phenomenal, dropping us off right at the hotel and keeping the car for a reasonable fee. We did not need the car while in town and could have gotten it out for a day trip if we had wanted that. The Blue room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was decadent with a tub and a shower. The staff - Daniela & Sofia - were both very helpful in making reservations in advance and during our stay. The rooftop patio is small but a wonderful add - getting a birds eye view of the city and seeing the stars over Siena were both lovely. Breakfast was a nice option. This is a small boutique hotel that feels a bit more like a B&B. The history of the family and the building are also interesting.

Loved our stay here. A special thank-you to Sonia and Daniela for making it great! We loved the room (Le Grottesche) with its loft and tall frescoed ceilings. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was very functional. Breakfast offered good choices (except cappuccino, which was a bit watery) and was served in a beautiful drawing room. During our stay I enjoyed learning about the history of the building and of the Borghesi family, which left Siena for Rome long ago but had many prominent members, including a pope and a nobleman who became Napoleon’s brother-in-law. In a church in a different part of town I happened to notice their coat of arms on some supports, which was pretty cool. Keep in mind that although the units have air conditioning, it must be enabled by management, and we were not able to use it in October although the weather was warm and rainy. My spouse had a bit of trouble sleeping at night due to this.

We couldn't believe our room when we were shown inside by Sonia, it was like a medieval royal bedroom or something complete with ornately painted ceilings. We could have stayed here a lot longer, unfortunately we only had 2 nights. When we were first shown the room, it was the first one as you come into reception, and I was worried there was going to be a lot of noise but there wasn't. My son had the upstairs space which he loved. We had a lovely view of Siena between the buildings. The residence itself was wonderful with an amazing communal guest area where breakfast was served and guests could relax during other times of day/night. There are only 6 rooms all up so the experience is very intimate and felt special. My son and husband played chess one evening. The rooftop views were incredible! The location of the hotel is also amazing, very near to the Cathedral and it was easy to come back to the room and charge phones or drop off shopping. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Loved the recommended restaurants (we tried 2) which Sonia kindly booked for us. We also tried the gelato place that was recommended which was delicious! The only thing I would say was that it took awhile to get our car brought around, which almost made us miss our train from Florence to Rome (in fact we only made it because the train was delayed). But that was also partly our fault as we didn't hurry the drive as much as we should have and didn't anticipate the Florence traffic. I don't think you really need a car in Siena, especially if staying inside the city walls. Would love to come back and stay here.

Fraudulent charges. Unavailable staff. The hotel is very charming, if somewhat dingy. The staff is only available during limited hours - inconsistent hours. Sometimes they show up at 3pm… sometimes 4:30pm. The accuracy of information about hotel pricing cannot be trusted. Even if something is stated as complimentary, without a price listed anywhere, you will be charged for it after you leave. Expect to dispute charges with your credit card company. Expect unexpected charges when you arrive.
