Garrison Hotel

Excellent stay at the Garrison, small but perfectly functional room

We have just returned home after a 3 night stay at the Garrison hotel where we held our annual reunion. We all had a fabulous time, the venue, staff, food and rooms were top drawer and they really looked after us throughout our stay. During the organisational process I dealt with Stevie, Emilia and Jonathon, they were all great but I must send a special thank you to Natalie, she had to deal with a great number of changes throughout the process, which were handled in a very friendly and professional manner. Jez, Sarah and all the staff that looked after us could not be faulted. On behalf of our Reunion Club, I would just like to say what a great bunch of people you are, who gave a gang of Royal Signals Veterans such a great time.

We arrived at 10.20pm and quickly checked in. We went to bar for a drink to find ladt orders at 11pm (quite a shock for a Scottish couple lol). Bar girls were great, friendly and efficient. Room was a good size with a great bed which led to a great night's sleep. Breakfast had good choices and service was immediate. Restaurant is a bit dated looking but fitted with charm of the Garrison building. We stayed two nights and would use the hotel again.

Me and my son stayed here for 1 night as we were travelling from London to see the match at Hillsborough , we were greeted by very friendly receptionist and sorted out our booking which we had booked on the wrong date, oh dear 😅, we managed to get the last room available. Easy walking distance to the ground and we even went to the dogs in the evening, comfortable room and a nice breakfast. Great history to the place free parking couldn’t go wrong did exactly what we needed, would recommend

Lovely mini break, which incorporated the Peter Kay Show. Lovely room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was lovely and the surroundings were quirky - inside an old military barracks, in the Hillsborough district of Sheffield. Would come again.

We had our wedding reception at the garrison. It went great with the first wedding coordinator but then ringing to make additional payments to find out they had left so we had to do the whole meeting again. We called again and found out she had left, this happened 4 times in total. We then had Stevie who we thought was great with explaining everything. Sadly this wasn’t the case. We paid for the private bar to open in the function room which NEVER opened. To be told they didn’t have enough staff because they had another party on. This divided the guests sadly. The DJ we sent all requests through (first dance etc) he was confused and had to ask us multiple times what our first dance song would be. We had a cake delivered the day before and was told it would stay in the fridge as it was buttercream and would melt otherwise. The cake when we arrived to the venue was drooping and falling as it wasn’t kept in the fridge for long enough which resulted in us having to cut the cake early which meant most guests couldn’t see this. The venue wasn’t meant to be cleared until after 12am but we got told to move multiple times off a table as they wanted to clean up early. We asked multiple time for the AC to be turned on as guests were uncomfortable with the heat and we were ignored. We tried to find Stevie multiple times during the evening and the staff didn’t know where she was, we then found out she’d gone home. We were promised a bridal suite for the night of our wedding included in the package but it was the same as everyone else’s. We were informed from guests who paid over £100 for one nights stay that there was mould in the bathroom and broken toilet seat. We did see this as we went in to see the bathroom as they were upset. We have emailed Stevie and been advised the manager was meant to be calling to listen to our complaints. We have NEVER received a phone call and doubt we will. Honestly, if you’re thinking of booking the function room then don’t. I’d advise going elsewhere with how we’ve been treated.

Honestly, the staff were great, cannot fault them But, the Sunday lunch, was very very poor Flavourless watery gravy, the meats very dry Not sure what the mash was !!! Overall very poor If that’s the standard, sorry will give it a miss!!! I am not sure the chef would eat that!!!

The Garrison Stevie and her staff went above and beyond for my 50th Birthday Celebration myself and my family had a fantastic meal and the room was such a lovely size for 25 of us the Garden Room they helped dress it incorporate my colour theme it felt like a mini wedding reception it was beautiful. I would highly recommend this venue it's was a 5 star experience. Thank you you lovely people 😘
