This review is about just the bar and meal service. (Mucky Duck). Service was slow, the staff although pleasant seemed like they did not want to go out their way to ask the kitchen about ingredients in a menu item. The food was ok, nothing to get excited about, cold veg and cold sweet potato fries, we had to wait 10 mins to find someone we could ask for a replacement for the fries. The fruit that was supposed to come with the Black Forest cheesecake, which was advertised on the menu, were absent.

We stayed here for 3 nights when visiting friends in the area. Staff went out of their way to look after us as we needed to change rooms after the first night (we needed a walk-in shower) - all done with efficiency and no fuss. Comfortable beds , good sized bath sheets and basic toiletries (shampoo, soap, tissues). Good choice at breakfast and food came quickly and was well-cooked. We ate in the restaurant on one night and the food was very good. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would return.

It's a quiet and cosy hotel. Good views. Staff was okay. Didn't seem to make eye contact which I thought was bizarre. The cocktails were great, food was overpriced and disappointing, definitely poor quality compare to other places nearby, especially when they struggle to make steak. Small portions. Our room was clean, but there were plenty of irritating bits. Our bed was pushed together which made it not very comfortable as a couple. No toiletries in the room!!! No tootbrushes, tootpaste, shower cap, box of tissues, slippers, etc. So be warned! Also such a nice bath but not even a tiny bag of bath salts to use! Why noy support small businesses in the area and acquire some? Shower took forever to warm up. Sealant along the shower and bath should really get replaced and poorly picked radiators with loads of trapped dust next to fresh clean towels. And why are we still using the disgusting non slip rubber mats?! Coffee bags were gross. Pillows were nice and fluffy. No air conditioning in the room and turned off at the restaurant too on a warm and humid day made the stay uncomfortable at times.

Booked for a meal on valentines night. It looked very over booked with no staff having any time for you. Was taken to a table that was in the middle of a walkway which looked as if it was put in as an extra. Complained, told it was the only place to have even though there were empty tables around and we couldn’t change it. Service was atrocious to say the least. First course food didn’t come for an hour, main food took another hour to appear and we didn’t even manage to get a sweet course. Staff was miserable and didn’t want to know about issues being experienced. Very disappointing experience.

This was an unexpected stay after getting married, not my booking but I suffered; It must be that I am capital city woman from abroad or it really was bad, when we arrived there was a small room that seemed to be a reception, there wasn't a reception desk, neither a lobby, nothing, the bookings were printed left side by side with a pen each on a small table, it was embarrassing to watch, I'v e never seen that before, then the room was on another building we had to go outside while it was cold to the other building, there was not lift, I was with a suitcase, the building had 3 floors aprox. The room was cold, 15 or less, you had to put the heating on and not leave the room alone cos it becomes cold again, the bed was big but the room was smaller than my own bedroom, there were no chocolates, ordered towels as swans or similar, greeting written by the staff, free drink, no; the bathroom had no bath, I see jacuzzi in the photos I suppose you have to pay for that in a suite?, but by the space I'v e seen I don't think it has them, the building was small too. We had our meal, it was at night, it was dark, all the area, not just the tables, I asked for a beef, I wasn't asked how I wanted my meat before serving it, that is like a basic rule in restaurant hospitality service, my meat was practically raw at that point I didn't bother to tell them, I ate what I could but I ended up having a stomachache, I couldn't sleep. In the morning there was continental breakfast but no buffet really, what you could pick was really basic, no cereals options, bread options, nor fruit juices options, yoghurts, just there wasn't, if you wanted toasts you had to ask how you wanted them. I see those catering like biscuits in a photo. I haven't seen them at all neither at night or morning. I wouldn't call this 3 stars either.

Loved the cosy restaurant and bar area - just what we needed after a long drive up from Hampshire. Our room was right at the end of a corridor, including one main flight and two small flights of stairs. I'm not disabled but was temporarily using a stick due to a knee injury so, if accessibility is critical to you, best look elsewhere, as there is no lift. Room was comfortable and bed was a good size. We did have to ask for toilet paper though and the shower head was loose and had to be held rather than angled towards you. Breakfast (vegetarian cooked) was very tasty and set me up for the day, but is charged extra. Overall for good nights' sleep great food and friendly staff, 4 stars seem about right.

Easy and quick check in. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 13, nicely decorated, clean, quiet and warm. The bed was really comfortable, but it does squeak quite abit if your shagging. Maybe take earplugs incase your staying nextdoor. Defo recommend staying here.

I was doing a track day locally and wanted to stay somewhere not too far from the venue. The White Swan was recommend to me and I'm glad I booked. It's an excellent venue with modern clean rooms and a superb restaurant. Off road parking (essential for a motorcycle) and very friendly staff. The breakfast is freshly made and for the evening meal, I can recommend the lasagne! The restaurant was packed out both evenings and that just shows you the locals think it's great too.
