Burlington Hotel

This is such a lovely hotel. A minute away from the seafront, shops and restaurants. There’s even a shop across the road which is very handy. Lots of parking available right outside the hotel. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is very satisfying. Lots to choose from, cereals, toast, juices, hot drinks and cooked breakfast. Evening entertainment most evenings and a lovely entertainment area. There’s a beautiful garden to enjoy and relax in. There’s a laundry room which is very useful, especially for those beach towels and costumes. The staff are so friendly and helpful.

The pillows were awful, extremely thin with no protectors, as was the duvet. The shower was an awful 1970s avocado with luke warm water which you had to run the sink taps to get. ( hotel's advice) The food was plentiful but like cheap hospital food and cooked by what looked like 2 schoolboys. We also witnessed a disabled person who couldn't open the room to the door being talked down to by a senior member of staff who hadn't noticed he couldn't use him arm properly! We changed rooms and the shower came away from the wall! Sandown was awful and looked like where hotels go to die. The pub opposite looked like a ***** den and yes you could smell them everywhere. Don't go there.

There’s basic and there’s basic!! Outside is shabby and not at all appealing. Needs painting and updating. Inside at the reception everything is disorganised and unfriendly. No lift. Plenty of OAP’s struggled up the stairs. Older receptionist refused to give first aid to an elderly pensioner. The room is grubby - absolutely filthy round the toilet and behind cupboards disgusting. Beds uncomfortable. The heating was so hot in the room, it prevented us from sleeping. Knob on radiator broken so couldn’t adjust the excessive heat. When I mentioned this to the receptionist, her response was, ‘I can’t please everyone and the customers drive me up the wall’! Shower pitiful, it actually scolded my feet. No hairdryer. No sockets. Used a dangerous extension lead! Overall, very disappointing. I can’t understand why this so called hotel is able to continue trading. NEVER AGAIN

Came here yesterday 14th with a coach full of friends. Room very clean and warm. Our evening meal was not good, the bread rolls were solid, veg what there was not edible. Happy hour in the bar but if you asked for say two gins you had to prove they were for two people. Breakfast this morning appeared to be good but everything was tasteless. Can’t wait for dinner !!!

Whilst the hotel was run efficiently. Friendly hardworking staff. Good entertainment.Food was good. The rooms were shabby and in need of refurbishment..sound from other guests can be heard in the rooms.. Also the decor throughout was very dark.

Stayed 26th Aug for 7 nights with Clairs of Derbyshire. We were in room 56 ground floor room with shower which we had requested. The room itself was very good and met our needs but the bathroom needs refurbishing , the toilet seat being in a poor state. We enjoyed the meals all buffet breakfast and 3 course dinner served to table by friendly staff. To compare with other coaching hotels no member of staff came on coach to welcome us and no porterage, everyone had to drag their cases from coach to reception but when checking in they did ask people on 1st floor if they needed help taking cases upstairs as no lift. We enjoyed the regular bingo and entertainment and despite some shortcomings we would no hesitate to return again with Clairs.

Would give zero if possible! Given tiny room which had mould all over the curtains, dirty skirting boards and pipework. Shower room dreadful, scruffy outdated shower cubicle, toilet seat loose, generally grubby. Refused to sleep there, man on night desk was then instructed to show me upstairs room which was tiny, had misted over glazed window, the curtains of which were actually draped onto the bed because it was squashed under the window with no gap for them to hang down. On top of that there were unsupervised young children in opposite room yelling, running around and jumping on the beds. Parent in room next door playing on phone and doing nothing to control them. Male staff member said he had already told them 3 times to behave and when he then knocked on their door to reprimand them again it took 4 attempts to get them to answer and then they shut the door in his face! So I ended up with 'only' room left. Right next door to theckitchen and staff toilet. Noisy is an understatement, really appreciated the blaring radio at 7 in morning, banging, shouting, toilet flushing! Add to that the person in room above me noisily pacing the floor at 6 in the morning, radio blaring and flushing the toilet every 5 minutes, the pipe of which was in ceiling of my room! Food abysmal if you actually got it that is! Staff lost menu sheet for myself and friend so couldn't have our choice as they'd not made enough! Offered scampi and chips, ham, egg and chips or salad instead. Both chose ham, egg and chips but only 1 meal was brought to table. 15 mins later I asked where mine was. Told the chef had 'mislaid' the order because he was inundated with orders? Rubbish! Everybody else already had their mains whilst I didn't. To add insult to injury the meal was then freshly made for me, so fresh that one of the 2 eggs wasn't even cooked - it was raw! Staff rude, apart from final morning when clearly hoping for tips. Witnessed several guests being spoken to appallingly and my friend and I were made to feel like we were being nuisances just because we requested to move tables, despite there being many empty ones so hardly an inconvenience. Also would like to point out the hotel reply to my review on other site - no it was not a small mark on curtain lining, it was MOULD all over them as seen by male staff member and my fellow guest, who also had a dirty room with paint falling off the wall. The staff's fault re evening meal choice mess up and only cooking 1 not 2 meals. There is no excuse for supplying dirty outdated rooms nor for staff being rude to guests. It is not a 'refurbished hotel' as advertised, only part is and definitely not the area I stayed in!

We had a fabulous weekend at the Burlington Hotel, Management couldn’t have been any more pleasant and accommodating, We only did Bed and Breakfast as we have family on the Isle of Wight so spent all our evenings with them, Breakfast was amazing, unlimited for everything, very freshly cooked and plentiful, Room was spotless and very comfortable, can’t say anything negative about the hotel or staff, thank you for a lovely break xx

Stayed only the one night, had a nice room at the front of the hotel. The decor in the hotel is sleek and modern, warm welcome on arrival, staff very pleasant. The room we had was clean, and usual amenities such as a kettle , tea and coffee etc. The bathroom looked very ‘old fashioned’ compared to the bedroom which I actually loved the quirky clash. Would stay here again in the future
