My wife and I had heard about San Miguel de Allende from a couple of our most trustworthy traveling friends and were very intrigued as we read about the small city. We decided to travel there and celebrate our wedding anniversary there. We researched the finest hotels the city had to offer, and there are some very reputable options. Some of which are brand hotels that represent among the top tier worldwide. But based on location and the vibe of the hotel that came through the pictures we saw, we decided on Casa 1810. And are we beyond glad we did. 5 stars in every category. Room quality. Design and finishes throughout the hotel. Location of the hotel. The food and beverage offered at and by the hotel. And the service of the hotel staff. The epicenter of the city is the Jardín square, which fronts the beautiful Cathedral of San Miguel Arcángel. Casa 1810 is a half of a block from the square. Literally less than a one minute walk. The hotel is a true boutique hotel, hidden just inside and behind the facade of a very nice art gallery. Upon entering, you’ll pass through a long foyer that exhibits a beautiful selection of art, all of which is for sale. Once you pass through the art exhibit, you’ll enter into a space with very high ceilings, housing a large fireplace, a small bar, off to one side the station of the hotel’s hospitality and concierge staff. One wall in this space is all glass and looks out to the center courtyard of the hotel. It’s at this point that you get the true visual vibe of Casa 1810 and it’s very impressive for many reasons. You’ll find yourself wanting to stand there and soak it in. I’m getting “wordie” with this review but my words can’t do justice to how gorgeous and warm this hotel is. The hotel rooms are situated on its 3 floors, each opening up with a full view of the courtyard. There’s a bar and restaurant (Trazo) also on the third floor (where they serve complimentary breakfast) and then restaurant seating on the rooftop deck, where the views are amazing. Our room was exquisite. A large bedroom and a huge bathroom. There’s a very large bathtub in the center of the bathroom which was inviting enough that we couldn’t resist. There’s also a very large shower and a double vanity that was more than large enough to easily house all of my wife’s toiletries and beauty products. And that’s saying something. Seriously. We vacationed here for 5 nights and ate at a different restaurant each night. The first night, having arrived that afternoon and being a little travel weary, we ate on the rooftop deck of Casa 1810, at Trazo restaurant. Every other night, we ate at what I would believe would be the top 4 of what San Miguel de Allende has to offer, and I’m sure we could’ve stayed for another week or two and continued to try a new spot each night. The food scene here is epic. We live in Las Vegas so we know and are accustomed to fine dining and excellent service. All that said, I can honestly say that the very best cuisin
