"The gardens are nice and that's the only positive I can say. Food is limited and there are no a la carte as mentioned. Food sometimes ran out and the Cook had to be informed. Ice cream was only offered to Spanish speaking guests - we were told if we want ice cream, we should not tell anyone. Good fruit juices were also offered to Spanish speaking guests and we were offered fake sugary bottled drinks instead. TV had only Spanish and offer language program - I know it is a Spanish speaking country but 80% of guests were English speakers. Tours offered were minimal and most unavailable. Tour to nat'l park cost $300 US per person - 4 hr drive each way. You get to see a sloth 20ft up in the tree, a turtle and a snake. Mistakenly left carry on at front desk and the unfriendly women did not even bother to remind me to take the carry on. Instead, it was put aside and I later learned that some clothing items were no longer in the carry on. Also, they have power outages to save electricity. Our room was on 2nd floor and it was scary and dangerous to walk down stairs and through the gardens in total darkness to get to the buffet. I consider this to a a serious safety concern. You are isolated in this place - not much to do around. Not recommended."

"Rooms: Classic hostel bedrooms with all the amenities. The walls are quite thin and you can hear everything. Service: Everything was very straightforward, and the girls who worked there are all lovely and helpful. Location: The location is amazing. Two blocks down from the beach, and there are bars and restaurants all around. Definitely a great place to stay if you are looking to socialize."

"My husband and I have been traveling to Samara Costa Rica for 15+ years, usually staying during February to escape the cold northern temperatures. Samara is the perfect destination for that! Villas Verdes is located within easy walking distance to the incredible beach or the town center with nearby access to groceries stores and numerous restaurants and shops. Upon entering the grounds at Villas Verdes, you feel the outside world melt away. The beautiful well-maintained gardens and sparkling pools are inviting. The villas are pleasant, brilliantly colored, warm, and welcoming. There are various options with 1-3 bedroom villas available. All are exceptionally clean, tastefully decorated with well-appointed kitchens and comfortable beds. There is an affordable delicious breakfast offered on site. There is secure off-street parking available with a security guard monitoring the grounds and front gate at night. The owners Koriynne and Angelo are wonderful! The staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive. The front office ladies are very accommodating. They will help with making a reservations or advice on an excellent restaurant. I highly recommend staying at Villas Verdes!!!"

"Lage gut, im Zentrum und strandnah. Zimmer dunkel, sehr alt und renovationsbedürftig. Alte, kaputte Leintücher und Frottierwäsche! Badezimmer eklig und ungemütlich. Das Hotel hat 20 Zimmer und am Pool stehen genau 3 Liegestühle - schade. Garten schön gepflegt. Personal spricht z.T. nur spanisch: nicht wie auf der Webseite beschrieben 3 sprachig. Frühstück i.O. Wir kurieren jetzt zu Hause unsere juckenden und schmerzenden Pusteln aus, die wir seit diesem Aufenthalt haben."

"Gutes, familiär geführtes Hotel mit schöner Gartenanlage, gut ausgestatteten Zimmern, bequemen Betten und gutem Frühstück. Der Samara-Strand ist fußläufig schnell erreichbar. Leider ist die Lärmbelastung durch die anliegenden Straßen zeitweise enorm."

BellaVista Suites by Villas Verdes - Samara Beach ★★★

"We spent a week at Intercultura Spanish clsses (A+++ also) and stayed here at this chicly appointed boutique property. It was a delight -- all the comforts and so reasonably priced, plus a refreshing, flower-lined courtyard pool for after-class dips. I loved that it was just a small stretch from the main hustle and bustle of town, but still 5 minutes walking distance and two minutes by golf cart. A little "soda" aka cafe next door fueled us the whole time economically and deliciously. Loved the front desk staff at Bellavista, who were so helpful with recommendations and tours. Also and of note -- incredible views of the clear field with horses and cows across the street and the ocean just beyond that. Totally unobstructed and we walked to that more remote entrance of the beach every day!"
