Comfort Suites Salem-Roanoke I-81

Very clean room spacious and very friendly staff! Over all a great place to stay!

We had a very comfortable stay here while traveling through the area on our way to our final destination. We arrived around 8:00pm after a long day and were greeted with a friendly welcome by the young lady at the front desk. The room was very clean, bed was comfortable and we got a good night’s sleep. We were able to enjoy a nice breakfast the next morning before heading out for the next leg of our journey. Breakfast area was clean and staffed with someone who did a great job of making sure area was clean and well stocked. The lovely lady who checked us out in the morning was a ray of sunshine with her delightful flowers in her hair and her cheery personality! The staff here seem to care about making your stay a pleasant one. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

After booking online, I drove with my 2 children under the age of 2 hoping to get them out of the car finally to a room and the manager told me they do not give rooms to locals within 60 miles. I told her we was there because my mom, who is a Marine veteran, was going to the Salem VA for cancer treatments but she didn’t care. I’m not sure why they couldn’t call me before then since I booked the room weeks ahead of time. I brought my babies in so they could get out of the car since they had been sitting in it for over 2 hours, to call my mom to relocate and she proceeded to tell us she was calling the law. They have rented to me several times before when I would pay for my mom to stay there or even when I came with her. When I asked about a refund, she said I would have to contact the third party administrator. We are a family of 4 and both my husband and I work hard so we depend on that $560 and can’t wait for whatever process that is! Especially since I have to spend more to go somewhere else. So after going 5 miles down the road and getting a room with no problem, I googled the distance and I live 82 miles from there. So not only did she lie, but I still don’t know when or if I will get my money back.

It was a very nice hotel downstairs and throughout the hallways. Fantastic staff, very nice. We just had a problem with the room. We arrived very late, about 11:45pm with 4 kids and the pup. We stayed in a suite. The room smelled terrible. There was water all around the air conditioning on the carpet. I suspect that was the smell. Maybe it was a designated pet room and that’s what the smell was. There was 2 bugs in the bathroom, I know, not terrible. A crack in the bathroom I think where they were coming out. I tried to call the front desk by chance they had something else but no answer. I know they were busy downstairs. We were all so exhausted we just crashed after I sprayed my perfume everywhere so we could go to sleep. Breakfast was minimal, kids wouldn’t eat much there. Not worth the money we spent having the extra $50 fee for the pet.

Very nice! Clean room I did not smell any cigarettes the beds were clean who ever did this room was absolutely perfect sleeping here is better then my bed but the person at the front desk acting like she did not want to be here. Somehow the place put MORE money for military ID. And the water was cold but I put it up all the way and the water was worm but I’ll come here again very nice!

Arrogant and unfriendly staff, average room with unclean bathroom, would never stay at this location. Earlier, I had good experience with other Comfort Suites location, but this location doesn’t meet standards of Comfort Suites. Stay away!

Hotel was clean but room furniture is tired. 3 story hotel with one ice machine on 1st floor which was not working. The biggest complaint was the attitude of the front desk clerk from the very first moment we arrived. We literally waited to be acknowledged and checked in for 5 minutes as She sat behind the counter on the computer. She did not make any effort to acknowledge us or apologize for the delay. After checking in, I discovered the one ice machine was broken and the desk clerk only reply was “ it happened before”. There was no effort to resolve the problem or apologize. After a request from my wife to resolve the situation, we were informed that We were being unreasonable and that She didn’t have to bend over backwards to satisfy us. The hotel did end up providing bagged ice but the experience was enough for us to avoid this hotel in the future.

Racing home to Florida after Hurricane Ian, made a last minute reservation here -- was hesitant to do so based upon the reviews. But we had a lovely time. The gentleman at the front desk (I believe his name was Leon) couldn't have been kinder. Warm and helpful! Our room was comfortable and clean. Had a fabulous Italian meal at Mama Maria's around the corner from the hotel. Our entire experience helped us during a stressful time. Would definitely stay again.

Beware don't come to this hotel. Long story short. If I could give this place negative stars I would. I stayed at this location on July 1st. My family and I checked in went to our room and the bathroom wasn't cleaned and still had towels from previous person and after some time we realized the ac was not working. Went to call the front desk the phone didn't work. So we went down and the front dest lady came up and said "doesn't surprise me it's not working but unfortunately there is no other rooms I'll have to talk to the manager in the morning she will be here by 8am because I'm unable to refund you anything and we have no other rooms." We stuck around in the morning to talk to the manager and she never showed up. Later on that day she emailed me and agreed to give me half my bill back to me. It's now been a month and a half and can never get ahold of the manger and she never replies back to emails. I've sent multiple emails and called multiple times with no email back or phone call back yet.
