We stayed a few days at this hotel while we were in town doing some wine tastings. Great central location with a truly incredible staff. Everyone was so friendly. Great breakfast for guests that didn't feel like your usual included hotel fare. Had dinner at Bentley's which is a great asset just off the lobby. Hotel even had a nice small gym with an indoor pool and the super bonus was a clean and inexpensive laundry room. Was nice being able to travel on our next leg of the trip with clean laundry.

We stopped for 2 days in Salem on our west coast Amtrak trip and wanted to stay downtown since we wouldn't have a car. I picked the Grand Hotel based on the reviews and its charm as a historic hotel. It was everything we expected and more. The staff at the front desk was first class. Always smiling and helpful. Cookies at check-in were nice. The lobby and rooms appear to have new carpet. Everything was nicely decorated and very clean. The complimentary breakfast was much nicer than the typical hotel comp'd breakfast, with changes daily. I'm pretty sure the hotel was full or almost full both nights, but our room on the second floor was quiet and restful. They even provided a white noise machine in the room. Mattress, bedding and pillows were very comfortable and, in fact, I slept better there than I do at home. Walking distance to many restaurants, etc. I would highly recommend the Grand Hotel

…. But not anymore. It’s old, the elevators creak, the furniture ancient and stained… it seriously needs updating. The lobby on the other hand is very nice, and their staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s a great location when visiting Willamet University, and it’s conveniently located downtown. The restaurant there, Bentley’s, was good and worth a visit. As for their breakfast, it was basic but it served us fine.

Very nice hotel in downtown Salem. Beautifully updated with super comfortable beds and soft pillows. The rooms are large and clean, with refrigerator and microwave and coffee maker. Staff were very friendly and willing to help with dinner suggestions. Will stay again when we return to Salem.

A wonderful, quiet hotel with it's own lower level parking, clean pool area, delicious breakfast, gorgous lobby, and accommodating staff. We would totally stay again! Also close to Enchanted Forrest, our favorite!

Our first time at The Grand. Russell got us checked in early, so we could get our luggage up to our room and freshen up and still get to our family reunion on time. The spa and pool were wonderful and the breakfast was better than most restaurants. Off street parking, great breakfast and exceptional service. For me, The Grand is the only place to stay in Salem. Thank you Russell, you made us feel like the most important guests in the hotel.

You might not have a lot of occasions to visit Downtown Salem but if you are at a meeting at the convention center, this hotel is directly connected and offers free underground parking, The hotel is old, and is designed as you would expect from an older building, however, they are in the process of remodeling at some level as half my hallway was closed for renovations. The rooms are a bit tired. The front desk staff is Four Seasons quality. They know your name from the time you check in and bend over backwards. I can’t say enough nice things about the staff. The restaurant was closed when I was there but there are plenty of really nice places to eat close by, but some are down alleys, just FYI. Good water pressure, good hot water, clean rooms, no real bedside outlets you can use.

Beautiful hotel, Very clean, comfortable and outstanding customer service. Mika at the front desk was awesome. If you are ever in Salem Oregon and need a place to stay, this would be it. Beautiful hotel, great amenities, excellent breakfast, fantastic service.

This place is conveniently located very close to shopping and many places to eat, so clearly this is the place you need to stay if in town. You're just a quick walk from the park too and you can quickly take a 20-30 minute ride to natural greatness like walks in the state parks. Rooms are priced decently, the facility is well maintained, and the customer service is amazing! The restaurant is not open right now, but again, you can go into town to get great food. I will say that the hotel is a quaint hotel, so that normally means you're going to hear neighbors in the next room, hallway and upstairs. I heard the neighbors upstairs making a lot of noise, so if you're a light sleeper, that's going to be an issue. Some of my party didn't like the closet that had the AC locked in it, because it can make whitenoise that they didn't like. I helped me sleep, actually. There are no safes in the room, so you should know you should bring a lock to lock valuables up in your luggage.
