Quinta Do Martelo

A MUST!!!!!! You absolutely have to try this place if you are in Terceira. The best restaurant by far!!! Amazing experience with fabulous food. It is an old farmhouse which has been turned into a restaurant. I suggest trying their menu which includes some small home grown foods, a wonderful vegetable soup from their orchard and ending with the famous Alcatra meat. A meat which is cooked for 24h in a wood oven and then accompanied with a sweet bread. To die for!!!! Don't miss out on this. And to top it off the deserts were amazing!!! Loved the honey pudding. And what can i say about the service??? Superb. The young man who waited on our table was lovely and always attentive. Sincerely the best. And the owner was absolutely lovely and with a huge passion for what he does. The ambience is also fabulous and very authentic. Absolutely loved it!!!!!

Staying here is like stepping back into a simpler life of idyllic peace and quiet. The property is a living museum of how Azoreans lived connected to the land with their own animals, gardens and market for guests. We spent an entire afternoon exploring the grounds of Quinta do Martelo and still didn't cover it all with all the winding paths and hidden "gems". The location was central for exploring the island, close to city of Angra do Heroísmo but set off in a more secluded, quiet area. Each house is like a museum in itself, illustrating what village life was like more than a century ago. The attention to detail and authenticity is remarkable, each part of the house has been well thought out to preserve both history and tradition, while ensuring coziness and comfort to its guests. The house we stayed in had a traditional wood fired kitchen and it was great to imagine what it was like keeping a fire going all day (but then just flipping on the stove when we needed to use one, LOL). We also had a chance to light the old-fashioned kerosene lamps. We enjoyed dinner one night at the restaurant, which was very special as they serve traditional dishes and we ate appetizers we hadn't tried anywhere else on the island. The Alcatra was incredible and the staff was attentive and kind. Nearly all the food served is grown at the Quinta. For anyone who enjoys connecting to history and culture, and getting a real sense of a place Quinta do Martelo is the place to stay! Thank you, we'll be back ＜3

Cozy location, with terrace and garden. Tasty tipical food and wine, as suggested by the very friendly service. Remarkable price/quality ratio, with abundant courses (we weren’t able to finish them all!) Recommended for couples and families with children.

We had the absolute best experience at Quinta do Martelo. We island hopped for 2 weeks and this restaurant by far offered the best food, wine, and atmosphere out of all of the islands and restaurants we visited and dined at. Paul was our server and recommended excellent dishes and wine pairings. He also shared with us the history of the restaurant and the island and gave us an overview of each of the traditional foods we tried, which islands they came from, and how the dishes are traditionally prepared. My husband and I enjoyed a private dining room and did not make a reservation. However, we did arrive fairly late in the evening on a Tuesday, so a reservation might be necessary for normal dining hours and on the weekends. I would visit Azores again just to experience this wonderful restaurant!

Eccellente! Prodotti di altissima qualità. Non ho mai mangiato una carne cucinata così bene! Lo suggerisco fortemente . Inoltre il proprietario è attento e cortese e Paulo, che ci ha servito e consigliato il menù, è stato molto professionale. Infine, anche il locale è speciale, veramente tipico.

Para além da garantia das origens locais de tudo o que consumimos a qualidade é de excelência. Para comple a experiência autêntica, o espaço, decorado com muito gosto e elementos antigos,leva o cliente numa viagem no tempo até uma época mais simples.

une expérience sympathique, un cadre très atypique et idyllique. Un repas découverte des spécialités tercerienne parfait. Un hôte très sympathique qui veut faire découvrir la culture de son île. Une piscine agréable. Dans des paysages dépaysants.

Esperienza indimenticabile! Si è completamente precipitati in un villaggio del tutto ristrutturato con ogni servizio e confort. L'arredamento è curato in ogni dettaglio permettendo all'ospite di sentirsi veramente immerso in un'atmosfera speciale. Bellissima la piscina immersa nel verde! A colazione un buffet di formaggi, marmellate e vari tipi di pane locali e dall'ottimo sapore. Il proprietario vi accoglie raccontando la storia del villaggio ed è disponibile per qualsiasi richiesta. Abbiamo anche cenato nel ristornate interno, medesima incantevole atmosfera ed ottimo cibo locale.
