The Ship Inn

The room was ok, but the kitchen vent was just below the window and was noisy. I wouldnt recommend this room to anyone and as the Ship Inn is not cheap I wasnt expecting this issue

Hi Charlie, Jon, and team, Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for all the effort you and everyone at The Ship put in to making our anniversary meal so special. You all went over and above! The room was beautifully set out, everyone commented on how delicious the food was as well as the impectable service. We felt so looked after. Jon and his team were seamless hosts! I really hope the space you have upstairs becomes a ‘sort after’ venue that it deserves. Thanks you so much again, we will definitely be back. Thanks Angela and Chris x

I have been going to The Ship at Rye for 12 years so I hope that speaks for itself although there have been improvements to the rooms in the last few years. Rooms are comfortable and kept very clean. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The full English breakfast will keep you going all day!

We weren't sure whether to book as we had read some negative reviews but pleased we did. Had a lovely vegetarian Sunday nut roast and a delicious pudding. Very efficient and friendly service from Sydney. Will definitely go back when we're next in Rye

We booked late so was more expensive than we normally budget for but the room was good, hanging space for clothes - a nice alternative to a wardrobe. Great bathroom - lovely hot and bubbly bath. We mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and they gave us a complimentary breakfast. Staff friendly and efficient

Our room was small and cramped, no way could this have been described as boutique. It was grubby and claustrophobic, with no hanging space for clothes and the lights on the bathroom mirror didn't work. The steak was ok, but the meal was cold and the chips arriving late. I ordered vanilla ice cream for desert but was presented with a selection of different ices that had no flavour at all. The breakfast next day was abysmal, with hardly any buffet choice left by the time we got down at 9.00am.

Lovely meal on Sunday, Frazer was very welcoming and made our visit brilliant. Food great, service great! This made for a truly lovely day spent in Rye, and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice meal out. Conveniently located at the bottom of Mermaid Street.

Had a really great dinner here! The food was delicious, but what really stood out was the service - Paris was amazing! So friendly and attentive, made the whole experience feel special. We also tried the local Bacchus wine, and it was absolutely perfect with the meal. Honestly, everything just hit the spot. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a fantastic meal in Rye. Will be back for sure!

A small, cramped, airless room (considered to be a superior double), stiflingly hot and a window that only opened a few inches. A fan was supplied but it was extremely noisy. The toilet seat was cracked and the whole toilet unit wobbled when sat on. Black mould was engrained in grouting around shower screen. Tea/coffee tray stained with dried spilt milk. There was no wardrobe only hooks on the wall to hang clothes. All in all, no way value for money. We had the 8oz steak, chips arrived late and cold. We considered the fish and chips, but someone at the next table had left nearly all of theirs. The sweet was a disaster, the ice cream was disgusting slop more like custard. The breakfast buffet by 9am was very “when it’s gone, it’s gone” with hardly any selection. The cold liquidized avocado and poached eggs on white sliced loaf was foul, no way was it sourdough as advertised. The coffee was disgusting, milk was supplied in a battered stainless-steel jug with barista temperature instructions stuck on the side. By now we just wanted out and a decent coffee and pastries. I knew after the previous evening this was one of those places, you’re not going to get any better service or food by complaining because this is how this place is. The staff were pleasant enough, but at the end of the stay we felt we were being ripped off and taken for fools.
