Linden Row Inn

We stayed in the Edgar Allan Poe suite and it was very charming. The suite had very tall ceilings and lovely fireplaces. I loved the historical setting and the New Orleans vibe. Very walkable to downtown and a 30 minute walk to museum district.

Let me start by saying we have stayed at historic places on four continents and usually prefer them for their charm and quirkiness. When staying at historic places, we know not to expect all the conveniences of home, but we do expect to be comfortable and to feel welcome. Neither of those things happened here. The disappointment began when we entered the room. We had booked a parlor suite, which looked lovely on the website. What we saw was something else entirely. There is a difference in historic charm and junkyard shabbiness. The thermostat was set on 70 with a sign that said not to turn it below 70 since it would freeze up. The temperature on the thermostat read 80. The courtyard view described on the website didn't exist. I am including pictures of the room and the view. The parking is a couple of blocks away in a public garage and is only $7 a day, paid in advance. Fair enough until there is no parking space available, and the front desk offers no suggestion except to keep going back until one opens up. Seriously??? That was what we encountered when we returned from having dinner. Fortunately on our second trip back to the garage we found one available space and took it. Had that not happened, we would have had a car and literally no place to park it without danger of being towed. So after a sleepless night due to the heat and not wishing to take our car out for fear of not finding a parking place for the night, we decided to cut our losses and leave. Needless to say we will never return.

Our team was in town for a conference and spent 3 nights at Linden Row Inn. We were within walking distance to the convention center, and many great places to eat. While parking is a block away--that, too is easily accessible. The rooms are comfortable and unique. Richmond offers so much history--this place just mirrors that in a beautiful way. Friendly, clean and well-maintained--enjoy!

Wonderful historical hotel, very comfortable room. Excellent staff and charismatic cat, Annabelle. Great location. The restaurant and bar were closed on Monday and Tuesday, but there are other places nearby. The Jefferson Hotel is very close, must see beautiful hotel, 5 stars, perfect for a special lunch or dinner.

We had been hearing that Richmond was a cool city for a couple of years, and stayed at the Linden Row Inn for a friend’s wedding. The location was perfect for checking out downtown on a First Friday open gallery evening. Lots of great restaurants and bars nearby. We were in a spacious, bright room on the front side of the hotel facing the library.

Charming old style elegance! The location was great. Walkability: Grace Street restaurants around the corner. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. The courtyard lent a feel of historic authenticity. Definitely helped make our trip memorable.

Very comfortable and quiet room in this historic Inn. Convenient daily parking around the corner. Close to dining spots such as Wong Gonzalez and Lilie Pearl’s. Convenient to Coffee Cafes such as Urban Hang Suite and Lift Coffee. Staff was friendly and courteous.

What a wonderful place to stay while in Richmond! I wasn't sure what to expect, but the inn blew me away! By far one of the best places, I have eve stayed! Very clean and comfortable place to stay! A+++++ The staff is great too! Thank you! There is an inn cat in the lobby area. Annabelle, is very adorable and we loved her! :)

I love the history in this place! You are greeted by a very friendly, helpful staff, including Annabel the cat (she is unobtrusive, if you don’t care for cats). Every room is huge, with a roomy bath. The linens and towels are soft and fluffy, with nice toiletries. There is a nice little restaurant, and many nice places to eat within walking distance. It is right in the middle of a zillion things to see and do in Richmond!
