MainStay Suites Raleigh - Cary

My husband and I stayed at this location 01/10/23. To begin with, we had trouble checking in due to computer issues. I asked if they had a public restroom in the lobby and was told “no”. Returning to our room that even around 11pm. Went to bed. Woke up during the night to go to the bathroom, and turned on the lamp above the bed. Roaches were crawling on nightstand. Walking into bathroom cut lights on, and floor was “moving” with baby roaches. This was near 4 am. Bed was advertised as a queen, and obviously was not. Also advertised a breakfast. There was no breakfast at all. Upon asking about this, they said breakfast hasn’t been offered there in quite some time. This Hotel clearly lacked adequate customer service, and could certainly use some TLC, and a lot of visits from a health inspector and or exterminator. Pictures to support this review are included

I was assaulted in the parking lot by a mentally I’ll guest while I was unloading my luggage to check-in . I witnessed the mentally I’ll guest try to attack a delivery driver prior to him attacking me. The staff at the hotel knew about the aggressive and threatening behavior of this mentally I’ll guest but didn’t do anything about it to keep other guests safe. I thought the mentally I’ll guest had left but then he suddenly appeared and punched me in the face. I called the police. The general manager promised to refund my bill and to help me with another future stay in order to provide customer service. He told me that he gave me his word that he would follow through to provide this service. Turns out he betrayed his promise and he reneged on refunding my bill and became hostile to me when I brought it up with him. Not only are there dangerous mentally ill people staying at this hotel who will assault you, but the management is negligent in their duty to protect their guests, is unprofessional, has low character, and all together - like this hotel - rotten. Don’t stay there.

It’s a average budget room. It needs a bit more updating other than some paint they threw on. The furniture in the room was run down but the bed was comfortable. It did what it needed. The staff was nice. I really appreciated the conversations I had with them. There was only 3 major issues I had. It was hard to find. It is tucked away off buck Jones road and I didn’t see many if at all signage. My gps took me a long rounded way. It needs more direction signage The hallway o was in smelled like “funny cigarette” at all times. I don’t know if people were smoking or it just a stagnant smell. They said there was a bagged breakfast but I never saw it out nor didn’t see anyone at the time to ask

THERE IS NO PROFANITY IN THIS POST- please stop rejecting this entirely accurate post . The biggest concern was after booking and reserving online, they would not allow me to use my spouse’s card that we reserved it with, having to cancel and rebook at check in. All the info matched up, but it’s like 1974 here, and I’m pretty ticked off implying I’m a lowlife criminal trying to steal a night at this infested hole. The carpet and decor certainly matched 1974, as did the trickling ‘water saving ‘ shower head and the AOL online phone jacks with no USB ports. Loved the 20 channel basic cable that didn’t match the guide, but grateful that the amount of **** floating through the place got me buzzed enough that sleeping with the roaches seemed tolerable.

My first experience with this hotel in August/Sept was great. It was clean, friendly staff, kitchen facilities and at a reasonable price, I was expecting that this would be my go to hotel to visit my daughter and new granddaughter at least twice a year. Enter this stay Oct/Nov I thought everything was good until I discovered that my door NEVER locked. The deadbolt inside wouldn’t turn the whole way but I figured I was safe because the door locked…..NOT. Imagine my horror when on a hunch I was able to open my door from the hallway by simply pushing the door. I had stayed in the room for 4 nights. I had wondered why my key wouldnt open exterior hotel doors but opened my room. The front desk person had said they had problems with that door over the weekend and accompanied me to show me how to physically wrench the door until I heard it click. I am disabled and could physically not do it. I was told they were booked solid and would get back to me. A half hour later I had another room. The adjoining door in between rooms had a deadbolt that would NOT lock. I told front desk and was told they would have maintenance look at it on Monday I moved a heavy table in the room to block the adjoining door. Monday came and no maintenance showed up. It rained that night and the carpeting was SOAKED, the water had leaked in around the ac/heating unit. I reported it to the front desk and was accompanied to the room to check that the carpeting was indeed soaked. I was given another room. While moving my stuff I encountered another employee that told me that the first two rooms were Out Of Service because they knew about these issues and they should not have been assigned to any guest until they were fixed. The third room had dirty dishes in the dishwasher and mold on the shower curtain, but at least they properly locked. I do not expect a hotel to be as clean as home but I expect it to be safe. I have contacted the hotel brands website only to be offered points…..really? I would have loved this to be a hotel that would have gotten a lot of my business in the coming years but now I’m searching for something else in the area.
