Beautiful hotel

I booked the hotel as it was close to where my colleague lives and the standard hotel we use was fully booked. The pictures on the website were impressive. Unfortunately, I didn't read any reviews. When I arrived, the hotel looked impressive. But as soon as I went to the reception, I had a bad feeling. The receptionist was helpful, but nothing more. The carpet on the staircase to the second floor was so stained that not even a magician could have cleaned it. The corridor to my room was the same. The fire doors were badly painted several times. The room was big and spacious. But: - The laminate flooring was worn and obviously only suitable for private homes. - The windows were uninsulated and the electric heater was from the last century. With the cold outside, you had the choice of being overheated or freezing. - In the bathroom there was a Jacuzzi and a rain shower, but no shower curtain or shower cubicle, so the bathroom was under water after a shower. - There was only one lamp on the bedside table and the room light only worked from that side as well. - Worst of all was the worn out mattress. It's unbelievable that this would still be in a hotel in 2024. - I arrived for breakfast at 6.55am and was sent away for 5 minutes. The only positive was the good breakfast.

We stayed here for the Champions League match between Liverpool and Bologna. Rooms clean but a bit to renovate. Some rooms smelled of mold, unfortunately. Bathroom also clean but with the signs of time. Sorry they couldn’t give us separate beds. Very friendly staff.

On the drive to the hotel in the dark you're met with a sweeping driveway, lit up and then presented with an illuminated large impressive, Victorion building with stone lions on either side of the entrance. Unfortunately that's about all that is impressive. Upon arrival I was to fill in a form and sent on my way to find my room with some poor directions. After navigating the corridors and Limited signage I found myself in what I thought was the maintenance area of the basement but no, this was actually a public area yet looked like shoukd have been out of bounds to the public. On finding my room I entered to be met with an open window so was freezing cold. I closed the window to realise there where no less than 3 electric radiators in my room. 2 on the wall and 1 portable by my bed. The ones on the wall however didn't work. Despite many attempts to suss out the controlls, they just didn't not heat up leaving me with 1 portable heater to try and warm the place up. It was then I noticed the damp walls. The wallpaper was stained by rising damp and damp in the corners. The bathroom was unappealing with nowhere to hang towels or clothing nit to place my wash bag. Unfortunately there where public hairs by the WC and in the shower. Hair was also present on the shower wall and in the bed. The towel appears to have brown staining on it. The bed was sunken on both sides so I had to ballance in the middle to avoid rolling into a divit! I was unable to sleep very well as the damp was triggering my asthma and the electric heater was ticking as it expanded and contracted as it came on and went off during the night. The ceiling was crumbling and I had the worst 2 nights in a hotel I have ever had anywhere in the UK or Europe in all my travels. Maybe I was un lucky and got the wort room in the place but it was quite frankly not for habitation. Breakfast was a joke. Waited 35 minutes to get my order of toast and yoghurt! NEVER AGAIN!

I stayed at the Rainhill hall hotel but sadly this hotel is more interested in hotel parties and conferences than the guests staying at the hotel . They let weddings carry on the music till 1pm and no staff there to make sure the guests keep noise down after the events only intersted in tidying rooms for another venue till even further into the night making it very noisey to sleep at the hotel .The hotel needs some renovation work as looking very tired in the hallways carpets and painting in these too as well as the rooms that have been refurbed quite cheaply .The rooms are very large but cold with one small heater on wall and the bathrooms are odd with having a large jacuzzi to step into to then have to turn the shower above on with water going all over the floor .The bar area as very few tables so not very inviting . The staff are very young and don’t really want to engage much with you and generally make you feel very unwelcome of which I never found when I visited other places in Liverpool .The food in the restaurant was pretty bad and only wish I would have eaten out .. can generally say I was so happy to leave !

Room cold. Furnishings (especially carpets in communal areas) very tired and stained. No instructions on how to use the TV or shower. Water in bathroom scalding (dangerous as there are no mixer taps). Wardrobe had ill fitting rail that fell down when you hung an item up on the 2 hangers provided. Furnishings very basic. Kept awake until after 3.30am due to noise of staff/residents (not sure who?). Sound seemed to be above us and sounded like high heels on a wooden floor with furniture being moved. Weird. Unpleasant experience.

We attended a function at this hotel, My elderly and terminally ill father needs a wheelchair to get around. We asked for help locating the wheelchair entrance to get outside, we were taken to a tiny service lift which leads to a fire exit, The wheelchair just about fitted into the lift We went out the fire exit expecting to be greeted with a pathway but in our way was a number of needless obstacles, including dilapidated decking which was about one foot high, it was also incredibly slippy. We had to go through it again to go back up to his room and then when we checked out the following morning. Which was worse because the lift door was stuck on the wheelchair and the doors wouldn’t open so he was stuck inside. I don’t understand how this is still happening in many places. This is by far the worst place I’ve ever been to for disabled access. They really need to invest in this because people should not be struggling to access facilities because they are disabled or have mobility issues.

I really dislike leaving negative reviews but pointless reviewing unless you are going to be honest. The positives, the bed was comfy the big tv was good and lovely wall paper. The negatives, the whole place was very tired the carpets were stained and dirty the floor in the bedroom was scratched skirting needed painting, windows had flaky paint and black mold, no shower curtain in bathroom bathroom was soaked after a shower, no fan in bathroom, toilet seat had been bleached so much it was so warn and faded, taps moved in sink when you tried to turn then on or off. Cheap loo roll We paid more for a superior room, nothing superior have stayed in better standard rooms. There is nothing boutique or luxury about the roo. We stayed in. It has so much potential just needs a overhaul of all areas. Needless to stay we won't be going back.

Beautiful buildings and food was lovely but I do think it’s slightly warn down the carpets need a major clean and the room needs some tlc my bathroom had chips on the walls paint missing etc and for the price it should be better, the room was clean and the restaurant was spotless too, the grounds are lovely the chapel is amazing, the spa is none existent this morning at the entrance it wasn’t cleaned ask tray over filled glasses left lying around and cigarette butts everywhere due to not being cleaned, beds are super comfy the main issue is the lack of cleaning throughout the hotel
