We stayed in cabin 2, one of the five remaining older cabins - the rest of the park consists of brand new cabins and I would recommend you book one of these and not the basic ones (although it would be cheaper I suppose). We had two bedrooms, one with a double or queen (looked like double) and the other with a queen/single bunk. I slept in the "queen" bottom bunk and it doesn't qualify as a queen given that it's smaller than my double bed at home. I am 167cm (about 5'3) and when my head was on the pillow, my feet were touching the wall at the foot end. Tall people will not be able to stretch out. The mattress was only about 5cm thick, but thankfully comfortable. Pillows thin, but all linen clean. We know we paid for a basic cabin, so yep, it was basic all around. Not a lot of kitchen utensils but the reception lady said they get stolen a lot. There were obvious marks showing that the cabin has previously had water leaks during rain from the corners of several windows (see photos). I took photos once it actually started pouring rain, there are active leaks on left bottom corner of lounge window (above the couch) and right bottom side of main bedroom window. I tested the others with old stains - they were dry and have evidently been fixed at some point. The floors in this cabin look very new, and the one other thing that looked new was the lovely Fuji air conditioner that helped keep us warm. To the owners: the sliding front door on cabin 2 needs renewing. It's heavy and needs a lot of force to open and close. The key didn't fit in the screen door lock, but it had no holes so useful for keeping out flies and mozzies come summer. This cabin (and I'm willing to bet the other four basic ones) could do with a lot more renovations and upgrades or perhaps just total replacement.....but then there would be no more basic cheap cabins left for those on a budget. Note: basic cabins will shake and rattle a lot during high winds and/or a storm. We endured that for one night & day during our stay. It was a pretty fierce rain/wind storm (no thunder or lighting). As we watched the TV, a huge wind gust hit the cabin, shaking it and the TV itself wobbled on its shelf! Thankfully this weather passed by the follwing night. These cabins might be old but they're pretty sturdy! Staff were friendly. One of them let us know there's no recycling bins at the park when we were looking for one. She said she and other staff had asked the owners for recycling bins but they don't want to have them. I think they might be afraid that visitors will just throw any old rubbish in recycle bins, contaminating them. We used the laundry during our stay. It's clean and the coin operated washing machines and dryers work well. Location great, IGA supermarket across the road, other shops, restaurants and Portland harbour nearby.
