I had made a reservation for Saturday, May 27 for one night at the 855 US Hwy 46 Parsippany, NJ property when I was speaking with one of your 1-800-Red-Roof staff who helped. He sent me an email confirmation with reference number. I had responded to an email offer for my birthday which offered a 15% reduction on the room rate and 250 RediReward Bonus Points when VP+/Promo code 542936 was used. I decided to start my vacation a day earlier, and needed an extra night's stay inbound to New York City. On my arrival on May 27, I was told that my reservation was cancelled. I had not been contacted by anyone from Red Roof Inn by telephone or email to advise me that my reservation would not be honoured. The person at the front desk told me that phone calls had been made about a problem with processing my credit card, however, no voice mail or emails were sent to advise me. When I arrived, I was told that there were no rooms available. There was a woman standing behind me when I was speaking with the front desk person who apparently checked out after I had left the vestibule, and the fellow at the desk waived for me to return. I was told that she had checked out, and that after the room had been cleaned, that I could return. I explained that when I had booked the reservation that there was a discount and the bonus RediReward offer, but the fellow at the desk said that he couldn’t make any decisions about those issues. I presented by RediRewards number when I provided my credit card number for payment. I was told that I would get a special rate, but that the room rate would likely be $107.00 plus taxes. I went for dinner and returned, and was directed to a room that was next to the office. The room was not a typical Red Roof Inn room, and had no alarm clock or telephone. The room appeared to be more like a break room that staff might use. When I checked out the next morning, I was not issued an invoice for my stay, with the staff person at the desk telling me that the printer was not in service. I asked for an email copy which was never sent. I usually stay at a Red Roof Inn in Secaucus in the spring and fall, where they have issued email folios that listed room charges, so know this service is offered. The Parsippany Red Roof Inn staff have left me with a very poor impression of that particular property’s management. I have been left with the impression that they did not want to honour a reservation with a discounted rate when they felt they could charge a higher rate for the Memorial Day weekend. No emails were sent to me, and my email address is certainly available to Red Roof Inn and attached to my RediRewards account. I responded to the promotional birthday offer sent by email . I was disappointed when I received my credit card statement and found an invoiced amount of $194.86 for the night I stayed at Parsippany, which far exceeded the $101.33 rate that was on my reservation confirmation.
