Hotel Otavalo

I came here for a 3 night stay. I have been to Ecuador countless times in the last 30 years, including Otavalo which is a MUST see for anyone visiting Ecuador. This hotel is 100% remodeled but kept its Otavaleño flair; the woodwork, the exposed stone and brick, the columns and tile - all represent the historic and magical city and its surroundings- but it had every modern amenity that blended seeminglessly with its history. The breakfast is first class as is their lunch and dinner. The food is truly a culinary experience highlighting the native food of the region . The bathroom is modern and the room, bed (so comfortable!), and decor truly spectacular. The hotel is within walking distance to all the local sites including the Plaza de Ponchos. When you walk into the hotel you feel like you are walking into a mansion home. Every corner. Every painting. Every piece of furniture - perfect. It’s almost like a fairy tale. But - it was the service that will ensure I return many times. Kevin at the Reception Desk seemed to always be available day and night and was so attentive; Sisa was wonderful also at Reception. Sisa, our room attendant, kept our room perfect day and night with so many special touches including local delicious surprises each night. Franklin was our server in the restaurant and provided outside food recommendations and service. Stay here! You will never want to leave! I will be back!

Absolute perfection and magnificently decorated art hotel. 3 course complimentary breakfast and all snacks in the room included. It’s a must stay! I’ve travelled all over the world and this is one of the most charming and beautiful hotels. I’ve stayed at. The service is also exceptional.

What a gorgeous, newly renovated historic hotel. Service was exceptional throughout with a number of the staff speaking English, and they were very accommodating: telling us the best places to visit (the Market, PARQUE CONDOR’S RAPTOR REHABILITATION and a hike around beautiful Cuicocha Lagoon). The food was excellent, especially breakfast.

Hotel Otavalo is one of the most impressive boutique hotels I have stayed at. They paid attention to detail in every corner of the property including the architecture, art, the Botero sculptures, the design in the glass canopy, and the historic brick arches. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the hotel staff were professional and friendly. Rooms were luxurious, well curated and spacious. I would recommend this property to anyone who enjoys art, architecture and a high quality staff.

Nice design and spacious place. Almost a magical place. Very confortable rooms with very high ceilings. Affordable bathrooms with high end amenities. Excellent food at the restaurant. A gem in the middle of the city. Very nice, friendly and helpful people.

A terrific suite, quiet room and great service by staff. A breathtaking building. Food in Otovalo is not complicated. We tried a number of restaurants, all good. The indigenous market has a lot on machined goods, slightly over rated in our book. Visit the crafts centers in surrounding communities.

Magnificent hotel in a perfectly renovated mansion in the lively center of Otavalo. The staff is super friendly and will do anything to give you a pleasant stay. Breakfast is amazing and the rooms spectacular. Defenitly the best hotel we had so far in Ecuador.

We stayed here actually twice during our stay in Ecuador for 1 month due to business. The hotel is very nice, very friendly staff and great food. The rooms are big and clean. Definitely recommend this place and we would stay there again for sure.

Excellent service, professional, very helpful, beautiful decor. I do recomend, if you are traveling with a car, to contact the hotel prior to arrival for parking privileges. I arrived after 11:00pm. No street parking, only private parking available. At night very difficult to find. Hotel personel helped, but definitely stressful. Not enough to lower the rating.
