We stayed a couple of nights mid-September in room 1, the gorgeous Lighthouse room. The room was spacious with stunning views across to Orford Ness. There’s plenty of storage in the room, and the bathroom is enormous. Breakfast for us, was served in a bright, sunny side room overlooking the terrace. The food was delicious, more than we could eat, and the service friendly and attentive. We also had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant on both evenings and it was perfect. We sat in the bar beforehand browsing the menu and they called us through when our table and food were ready. Again, service was impeccable and the food & wine wonderful. We were blessed with good weather the weekend we were there so Orford was busy, but at the Crown and Castle it felt calm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and acknowledged us throughout our stay with warm smiles, and there seems to be a genuine desire to make every guest feel welcome and we were made to feel like nothing is too much trouble. We had a thoroughly wonderful stay and will definitely aim to stay again when visiting Suffolk.

A visit with a friend to the Crown and Castle Orford. We visited in August 2024 and stayed in one of the chalets on the site (Not the main home). There was un-allocated parking spaces outside the chalet if needed. The chalet we stayed in was both lovely and had very comfortable beds. The hosts were very polite and friendly and breakfast was tasty and hot.

The Crown and Castle is a lovely place for a stopover whilst exploring Suffolk. The rooms are welcoming, the staff uniformly friendly and helpful, and the food is superb.

Returned to Orford and delighted with a stay in a garden room. Wonderful views of the sun on the castle in the morning and a terrace to sit on with a cup of tea. Restaurant and bar were comfortable and welcoming, menu full of local produce and staff friendly and helpful.

The Crown and Castle is the most perfect small hotel for a relaxing break away from the city. Orford is stunning and the hotel draws on traditional values of hospitality, but in a fresh and creative way. The staff are all exceptional and the food of the highest quality. We have never returned to a hotel/location before, but made an exception for this hotel… and will be doing it again next year.

Very comfortable and spacious room, good food for dinner and breakfast, in a gorgeous location close to Orford Castle. Despite the hotel being quite busy our nights were peaceful and the service was always attentive.

We have just returned from a one week stay, and as with all our previous visits, we had a fantastic time! The accommodation is excellent (we had a garden room which is very well equipped and has great views of the near-by Orford castle from the rear). The food in the restaurant is of the highest quality and absolutely delicious! But best of all, the staff (from managers to cleaners) are all highly professional and extremely welcoming and friendly.. We have been coming to this hotel for many years now and we love it! We have already booked ou stay for next summer.

Excellent stay couldn’t fault it had everything you needed in beautiful surroundings! Had a room with a sea view which was very comfortable and excellent food and drink. The staff were very attentive.
