On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were greeted with oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies in the lobby and handed a couple bottles of water. Breakfast was nice with scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits (no gravy), grits, oatmeal, muffins, bagels, bread for toasting, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, and two waffle irons – one for a large Belgian waffle, and one for little Belgian waffles. There was even two types of waffle batter – regular and red velvet. My husband did have to wait about 10 minutes for them to bring out more sausage and eggs. He ate his waffle while waiting. The carpets in the hallways were dirty, the doors all had fingerprints on them, the chaise lounge in our room was so terribly stained that neither one of us would sit on it and the flecks on the floor told us that the carpet had not been vacuumed. The desk chair was broken so that when you sat on it, it dropped down to the lowest level, and when you stood it popped back up again. The handle of the bathroom faucet was not secured properly and came off in my hand the first time I used the sink. The stopper in the sink was also not functioning. The ice bucket had walnut pieces in the bottom and specks of mold that told us no one had looked at that ice bucket in a while to clean it or replace the bag for the ice. The Hampton Inn corporation needs to decide if they’re going to put some major money into cleaning and renovating this hotel or just tear it down and sell the property.
