The Grange at Oborne

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. It is nice and clean. Highly recommended in sherbrone. Only down side poor network reception in the area.

We stayed just for one night and we had a lovely time. It is a lovely, family run hotel and you can see that the staff really care. The food at dinner was fantastic (and so were the wines - we chose Lyme Bay English wines and managed to get through quite a lot!). It is incredibly good value, especially the Dinner Bed and Breakfast rate. A couple of little gripes - my pillows were quite hard and there was no plug by the dressing table for my hairdryer. But it didn't ruin my stay and they definitely deserve five stars! I would stay again. Highly recommended.

My wife and I stopped for one night at The Grange on our way home from a holiday in the Cotswolds. The hotel is lovely - quiet, friendly and cosy with super food in the restaurant. The whole place looked extremely well cared for with much evidence of recent redecoration, and our room (room 9) was perfect. All of the staff members we met during our stay were brilliant and are a real asset to this lovely family-run business. So many nice and humorous touches, plus a very friendly large house cat. We left wishing we could have stayed longer, and will definitely plan to return. One tip - don't follow your Sat Nav if coming from the north if you don't like narrow country lanes, contact the hotel and ask for the best route!

Wonderfully comfortable and decorated. Staff welcoming and so helpful. We were made to feel like we were at home away from home. Everything is well thought through and there is an obvious focus to making guests feel quietly indulged. Plus there is a very friendly cat to make you feel loved and welcome.

Perfect place to stay in the British countryside. Beautiful and very cozy place with a great attention to detail, almost feels like home ! Very nice people (and lovely cat :) ). The hotel has a very nice restaurant as well, which is very convinient with great food.

Lovely country hotel in a pretty village in easy reach of Sherborne. Family run, cosy and welcoming. Excellent breakfast and helpful friendly staff. Loved the selection of wellington boots to suit all sizes and aged. Our second visit and we will be back!

This was our third visit to The Grange and this time we decided to stay for a week and have it as our base to explore Sherborne and Dorset. There were plenty of lovely and interesting places to explore and returning to the Grange each evening, only added to our enjoyment. You won’t be disappointed! Without exception, the staff are consistently friendly, helpful, obliging and professional in their roles. Whatever food you choose will be absolutely delicious. You’ll find the bedrooms both comfortable and smart, whilst the ambience generally around the hotel is very relaxing, with items for you to borrow or take if you happen to have forgotten anything! This is one of our favourite places to stay, because it isn’t really like staying in a hotel, but like visiting friends who just happen to live in a very big house!! We thoroughly recommend The Grange!

We stayed for six nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and given the quality of the food this proved to be excellent value. The room was spacious and comfortable. All the staff we encountered were extremely pleasant and went out of their way to provide excellent service. On the first night I asked if it would be possible to order the sea bass without the accompanying shellfish sauce (on account of an allergy to crab!) Within minutes I was told that the chef could make an alternative herb-based sauce...and it was delicious! We particularly liked the way the items on the breakfast buffet were put into individual pots, thus avoiding the unhygienic communal handling of jugs and spoons. A bonus was the company, in the bar, of Neptune...a large and decidedly smug tabby cat! A most enjoyable stay, thank you all.

The fact that this is an independent, family-run hotel shines through at every level. The building is full of character with well appointed and comfortable rooms, lounge-bar and restaurant, with friendly and efficient staff. An excellent 3 course dinner and one of the best breakfasts, with FRESH fruit juices, FRESH fruit salad. Highly recommended !
