This hotel claims a free airport shuttle in order to get your business, then doesn't have one, which cost me over $70 for the ride there... WRONG!!!
Also, this place is already located in a poor area. But, with nobody at the front desk after 11pm and no security at any time, I felt SO VERY UNSAFE... and, there's metal brackets on half of the doors in the hallway leading to my room, indicating many break-ins. At the end of the hallway on all floors, every fire door is kept propped wide open, as well as the main fire door that's supposed to be kept locked at the very bottom, allowing access by ANYONE on the street in this already "sketchy" neighborhood. And, around 3AM, there was someone revving his/her motorcycle very loudly for approx. 30min; afterward, those same people were shouting at each other for a long while, with no security there to stop their disturbance, as well as upkeep the safety for their guests.
On top of everything, as funny as this may sound, there were strange "clicking" sounds coming from the insides of the walls, with nearly simultaneous light flickering of one of the bedside lamps. This experience just kept getting worse and worse; I was so upset, it all terrified me,, and I felt extremely unsafe! I am still completely traumatized.
Needless to say, I just could not get to sleep, and I could not stay there any longer. Plus, since I was in town, for two days, for the Yankees game later that afternoon, I certainly didn't feel comfortable leaving my valuables in the room while I was away for hours, including my passport and many important gifts I had brought back with me from my few weeks in the Philippines.
So, I made countless calls to look for a different place to stay, so that I could leave right away. After hours of calls, I could not find availability that late in the middle of the night, that I thought would be safe in that area, after what I was already going through at that time. Then, I found a Holiday Inn within 5 minutes by foot, which was the only place that assured me that they had 24hr security and a 24hr front desk. I wanted to leave to go there immediately, but by that time (4:30AM), I wasn't going to put myself in danger by walking with luggage in that neighborhood; plus, I'd did have had to make a couple trips, back and forth, because I had several peices and couldn't muster it all at once. And, I couldn't book a ride-share, because no drivers were accepting such a short ride of 2min down the road.
The conclusion to this all, is that I had to wait 'til morning, in terrible fear inside those four walls of my "room", and left without looking back. Luckily, I was actually able to book a ride, regardless of such the short distance, because it was daylight now and not at the scary "wee hours" of the night.
I was able to get an early check-in at The Holiday Inn & Suites and the difference between the two was lokenight and day.
Do NOT stay here...you have been warned...
