Chuzenji Pension

A retro 9-room hotel that felt like home. Yummy western-jap breakfast & dinner. They have fixed timings for breakfast & dinner as they need to serve all guests at the same time. You may book the onsen for a one-time private couple use but we felt that the onsen is not as good as those we went in other parts of Japan. We wasn't sure what was the temperature of the water... maybe it wasn't hot enough. Location wise - great! Just cross the road to Chuzenji Lake. Just 10 minutes walk down to Kegon Falls so that you don't have to pay for parking next to the falls. Overall, worth the stay.

Room has great view of Lake Chuzenji. Clean and Tidy. Dinner is very delicious especially the trout crusted with almond. The owner is very nice and kind.

Very straight lady owner. Only give one exact time for breakfast and dinner. No English nor putongha, only Japanese.

The hosts were friendly and the young female assistant was helpful and polite. Location is great, near to the well-known fall and the lake is in front of the residence. Private onsen facilities are great though they are not available in the morning. Foods provided are in Western style and they are good, but not that great. Guests are reminded to tell the hosts on how to cook the steak, especially if well-done is not their preference. No elevator but many steps means you have to have strong muscle to move the heavy buggages from the car to the room.

Excellent place.

Very rigid owner to request exact time for breakfast and dinner, which is really unnecessary . Guest may eat slow or quick. Not for sake of guests convenient but her own convenient only. The two ********* ladies helping her is good. Could speak Englisnd and Mandarin.

We enjoyed very much staying at the pension. It was situated close to the bus station and with beautiful scenery of the lake. The host were very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the dinner very much. It was a wonderful experience staying in the pension.

Everything was fine. The location was great and the service was friendly.
