Holiday Inn Express Mystic - Groton Area

Arrived late to a friendly and helpful front desk, but didn’t take a close look at the room until morning light. Bathroom smelled strongly of ammonia. In the a.m. we saw the filth. The bathroom floor had deep old urine stains and obviously hadn’t been properly mopped in a long time. Show curtain was missing, suggesting the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned at all (how could they miss THAT). Tissue box and tissues had visibly been sopping wet at some time. Pealing wallpaper. Dirty carpet. Beds were okay and breakfast seemed good though. I alerted management to the filth on my way out, orally, electronically and by email. I have not been contacted.

This is my second visit to this hotel. The hotel prices in the area are outrageous and this one is one of the lowest in price. The hotel is nice, the rooms are fine. I just wanted to leave a review because my family stayed in two rooms and both of them were full of non-working, very loose electrical outlets that couldn't hold any plugs. The lamp in the room had the plug hanging half out of the outlet. We couldn't charge our phones unless you held the plug in place. If you touched the alarm clock, the plug would fall out. I told the front desk and their response was, "yeah we know about it and it's on the list." I get that they can't do things immediately, but I am fairly certain this is a fire hazard. Not to mention, when you pay $380 (with the state tax, etc) per room, it'd be nice to be able to use the outlets.

Spontaneous trip to Mystic for the night. The hotel was clean, the room was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. Included breakfast was good, too! We are early risers and always look for hotels that include breakfast. Did not disappoint!

Great hotel in Mystic. We stayed on the 3rd floor facing the shopping village and loved it. Clean and conveniently located to everything (shops, aquarium etc). The hot breakfast is satisfying with alot to choose from. Jake at the front desk is very accommodating and kind. One downside is the indoor pool is very small. We will definitely be back.

Great location! Almost directly across the street from Mystic Aquarium. We walked across the street to the Olde Mistick Village. So convenient! Short drive (1.5 miles) to the Mystic Seaport museum, Sea View Snack bar or downtown Mystic. Jake at the front desk was great! Super friendly and knowledgeable! Clean hotel. Small pool area. Very good free hot breakfast buffet. Omelettes, pancakes etc….EV chargers conveniently located at Starbucks right next door connected via parking lot. Would definitely recommend.

Nice hotel in a great location. Right across the street from Old Mistick VIllage and just down the road from the Aquarium. Right off the highway but no highway noise! The staff was pleasant, helpful, and friendly. About a mile to beautiful downtown Mystic! Nice pool and hot tub area.

We had 2 rooms for 2 nights. Even though we made reservations well in advance and are diamond members of IHG rewards, we were given 2 rooms with no light and view of the wall. One room was quite smaller than the other. Each day, the eggs for breakfast were overcooked and the sausage as well. On the second day, there were no knives. The ice machine was only working on the main floor. The pool had a strong chlorine smell. When I asked about the lack of knives, I was given a lame answer of "Well, we had knives yesterday." How would that help me? The front desk help seemed to spend more time away from the desk and not very helpful. We have stayed at many Holiday Inn expresses and this one was a poor example.

Only choose this site because it advertised a hot tub, so we paid an additional $50+ for this choice over comparable hotels (Hampton, etc.). When arrived, told that the hot tub just broke that morning. Did not believe this based upon appearance, so I asked guest (in pool) who was there 3 days, and it was NOT true. Then asked unnamed housekeeping employee who indicated that hot tub was down for quite a while. Things break, but I HATE LIARS. Also, only 1 ice machine (on 3rd floor) worked because they purchased ice machines from a bankrupt hotel, and now only one works. Room was nice except for small dots of black mold on caulk around shelf in tub area. Water damaged wall and wallpaper by floor near tub.

As I have stayed at many Holiday Inns Hotels I was rather disappointed in this one. Start off cold coffee in lobby in afternoon 2 out 3 days we stayed here. Brunt eggs on omelettes and scrambled eggs, no light around mirror in bathroom that worked. Water in body lotion dispenser, slow drain in bathroom sink, low flow shower head that takes you 2-3 times longer to take a shower, no shower rug hotel staff says they ran out and running toilet. Would I stay here again????
